Mechanics:

This game is Nightless.
This game uses a White Flag: town needs to lynch any two Mafia Goons to win.
Mafia have daytalk.
When the first Mafia Goon is lynched, they get a return kill at a town player.
Innocent Children are announced at the start of the game.

Game Rules:

General Gameplay and Etiquette:
1. You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind.  Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
2. There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it.  Mafia members may communicate at night and during the confirmation stage at any time.
3. There are no nights.
4. Dead players cannot post in QTs, other than the spectator one.

Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:
1.Whomever has the most votes currently on them at lynch deadline is lynched
2. Once you have reached a simple majority no further unvoting will change someone’s fate.  Further votes will also be ignored.
3. Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
4. Please submit votes as: Vote: PlayerName.  Votes will NOT be counted if they are not bold or do not follow this syntax!  Obvious abbreviations or nicknames will be counted so long as they are unambiguous.
5. Please submit vote revocations as either Unvote: PlayerName or Unvote. Unvotes are not necessary before changing votes.
6. You may NOT Vote: No Lynch.
7. This game will have 24 HOUR deadlines.  If a player does not have a simple majority at deadline, the player with most votes currently on them will be lynched, and the game will go into twilight.
8. Once you are killed (either via lynch or night kill) you may no longer post. This means that you do not even get a “Bah” post. The dead in this game are silent.
9. Do not edit or delete posts.  We don't want some players having more information than others.  If you want to clarify posts, feel free to double post.

Miscellaneous/Mechanics:
1. Bold, blue text is reserved for the Mod.  No invisible/small text is allowed, nor is cryptography.
2. If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM the Mod privately.  Do not post issues/complaints in the game thread.
3. The Mod may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently.  Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed.  These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4. Please bold all requests to the Mod so that they don’t get missed.
5. Rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, up to and including a Modkill.

They were so pleased with their last experiment.  It went well, confirming their hope that humanity could be saved.  Plus, the elders were very pleased.

So it was decided they should go ahead, right away, and do it again.  And this time, with the interstellar link feeding the view live to their entire planet.

They came in the broad daylight, and snatched them up, one by one.

Archetype, Captain_Frisk, Eevee, Galzria, Insomniac, Jimmmmm, Robz888, and shraeye are reeling from the pain of the transporter device, and something else.  They look around the round room, the bright ceiling with its unusual light.  They sit around the large wooden table in the middle.  One by one they see the noose, hanging coldly from the ceiling.

Greetings, humans.  Three of you are Mafia Goons, three of you are Vanilla Townies.  Insomniac and Galzria are Innocent Children.  You have about 24 hours to make your first decision--find the evil, save the good.  Do that, and save your own lives.  The ceiling stays on until this exercise ends.  Good luck.

The group look around at each other.  The backs of their heads tingle, but they cannot place anyone's face.  There's an odd sense of familiarity, but no one can remember details from before they were taken.  They don't remember before.  They  don't know who anyone is.

Something I didn't realize the first time around. With 5 to lynch, assuming no bussing, it takes ALL town-aligned players agreeing for a scum lynch to happen today, which sounds awfully hard. I suspect scum learned their lesson from last game and won't help us taking each other down like that this time around.

To clarify, RVS votes will not count toward the unique vote count.  For vote count purposes, RVS ends at Votecount 1.1.  However, if you want to make a serious vote before that happens, just be clear about it.

Mafia can talk during the day
Only 2 Mafia members needed dead for Town to win

I still don't quite understand the unique vote system, can a player (or, better yet, ashersky) explain it for me?

The vengekill only comes after the first mafia kill, but then again, we win after the second mafia lynch.

The unique vote system is used to break ties.  If, at the deadline, two players are tied with the highest number of votes, the mods will look back at the entirety of the day, and see who has been voted for the most.  But one player can't game this system by voting for one player repeatedly.  Thus, they see who has been voted for by the highest number of unique players throughout the entirety of the day.

If that is tied, I'm not sure what asher will do, he has suggested extending the deadline or flipping a coin.

I also don't know if the unique votes get cleared at each lynch.  So if I vote for Archetype on day 1, and you aren't lynched, but you are tied at the end of day 2 (and I never voted for you on day 2), does my day1-vote count as a unique vote?  Asher will have to clarify this.

Mods will keep track of "unique votes" on all players.  A unique vote is the first vote cast on that player by another player.  Even after unvotes, that unique vote remains.

If there is a tie at deadline, the tiebreaker is number of unique votes.  That means that the player who was voted by the highest number of unique players over the course of the day is lynched.

Unique votes are cleared at the start of the next day.

Robz, Archetype, Eevee, Frisk, Jimmmm, me.  Ok.  Those are the players in question.  I feel like I'm pretty solid at reading Archetype, Eevee, possssibly Frisk.  My reading ability on Robz is suspect, and on jimmm it's nonexistant.

First thought, is FoS: ashersky for putting the signups to ZM5 in the ZM4 post-game discussion thread.  That caused this to fill up within 10 minutes, and have virtually the exact same player set.  Only Archetype is new.  I know that Munch was excited to try this after he heard it was fun; and Cuzz was interested too, but couldn't commit to such a quick timeline.

Second thought, actually pertinent to this game.  Because of my reading ability, I'm not sure which scumteam frightens me the most.  Maybe Archetype, Frisk, Robz.  I have no idea what other people take away from the jokey starts we sometimes get off to.  Also, I take notes on 5 different Notepad documents so I can isolate each player.  That being said, with a setup this small, you obviously gain a lot from reading people in relation to eachotehr.  Everytime you think you've 'nailed' scum, ask yourself: 'If they are scum, who are their partners?'  That's what helped me immensely as an IC last game.

(And I've been in both losing scum Blitz games). In 3, my biggest suspect was SFS, and Galz's biggest suspect was me. All three of us were scum, and we were the 3 most suspected people, and town won flawlessly. So.

Hmm. Well, regarding Galz' #74, I think it's a bit of a combo-breaker, in that it quotes a series of non-serious posts and replies with at least semi-seriousness. He also comes out with a couple of fairly sweeping statements: "There will be no bussing this game", and "Post or die". I guess the latter is either trying to promote discussion (possibly townish), or give him an excuse to cast a "random" vote (scummish?)

I wouldn't take the 'we' to be scum-specific, given that if Galz is Town then he has no idea who the scum are so can't be looking at their reactions specifically.

Yep, of course they're forced. Apart from the 'lynch the lurkers' plan, I'm trying to get myself into the game and actually make myself go through and try to read people. Also to give the other Townies something to go off. Also, as Frisk pointed out, I seem to be good at missing the high-traffic times and finding myself alone on the thread with no one to talk to. So I had to get something on the board, and decided to try a systematic approach.

What made me suspect you last game was your grand plan, and to me it just kind of reeked a little bit of. "Assume I'm Town. Assume I'm Town." Turns out you were Town. This game, I don't think you would have done much differently so far whether you were Town or scum, but just a couple of things you have said haven't really added up for me. I'm going to need to do a reread.  Off the cuff I'd say eevee as top scum and RobZ as #2 (for wifom lurking).  Gambling on town is alot harder.

I believe the above (bolded) is a scumslip. Why? I find it much more likely that a scum will have a harder time remembering who the ICs are than a townie would. As evidence, I sight myself in the previous game. I just caught myself several times in the early game when I was about to call shraeye out, and then realized I couldn't.

As scum, you want to fire on all cylinders, directing suspicion to everyone. So it is natural to see somebody write something, and try to spin it as scummy. Of course we know Galz isn't scummy, but the kind of person who can momentarily forget that in order to call an IC scummy is a scum.

No, no, no. You're wrong. As a member of the scum, you're more likely to be critical of everyone. You need to get the real town lynched, and you need to criticize your scummates so you don't get pegged as "in cahoots" with them. Scum, in this game, has to take things people say and tear them down, or try to spin them. (Not for absolutely everyone--you can choose a buddy, maybe two.) Not really a case, just something interesting to note.

There are 3 people who know what its like to play scum in this setup.  Only 2 are in this game.  One of them says it feels this way.  The other says something completely different.  They've both been playing this game for a long long time, so its interesting.  If SFS (a newer player) had said it felt different - then I probably wouldn't have found it as interesting.

Is Eevee unwilling to confront IC, or actually Ok with it?  Galz has a history of doing "misleading" things as town, to gauge reaction of other players.

I think that if carried out, it would be fascinating to see everyone jockeying for lowest post count at the end of the day.  THat rapid fire posting may actually result in a scumslip, so as I noted later in the day, this might not be all that crazy. (Provided of course that Galz appropriately size of the responses before actually voting)

Hmm, I'm thinking it's going to be hard for me to get my post count up for a number of reasons:

1) In general, both IRL and online, I don't really tend to say something unless I actually feel like I have something to say. Not so good at talking for the sake of talking.

Someone, I think Eevee, mentioned that scum aren't going to bus as much, and WIFOM concerns aside, I agree. It just doesn't seem to work for scum in these Blitz games. (And I've been in both losing scum Blitz games). In 3, my biggest suspect was SFS, and Galz's biggest suspect was me. All three of us were scum, and we were the 3 most suspected people, and town won flawlessly. So.

The fact that Frisk would do that is the best evidence yet that he is town. Scum are way too afraid of doing about-faces on suspicion.

I think all our reads are shaky enough that they can and should change rapidly. It's scum who get hung up on "transitioning" to new suspects.

Yeah, I can't tell exactly what's up in those posts.  It certainly feels forced, but this is a very unusual setup for a newer player.  I think sthose posts were forced, but I'm not sure that makes him scum.  Still, I'm feeling slightly uneasy with Jimmmm; this could majorly be due to my lack of experience trying to read him.

Lol forgot shraeye, he is a total null read (townier than archetype, scummier than Frisk). Sidenote, if Jimmm is scum, I think it's possible they planned getting me lynched in the daychat and are now hoping one of the IC's buys the "case".

Also, I wasn't trying to make a self meta argument. I was trying to make Jimmm think critically about his gut feelings regarding me, because if he is town now he was wrong about me the last game (when there was actual evidence pointing at my towniness on day 2!) and is now wrong about me again, so likely something I always do just seems scummy to him and it's important to realize these biases. Also one of the small reasons I'm suspecting him, I think as town he would second guess his ability to read me more after last game. Hence the theory of him being told to suspect me again 'because it would seem natural'.

I don't even recall Jimmm's 'case' on eevee.  I remember reading Jimmmm's analysis of posts (possibly he said he suspected eevee the most, can't recall who he said that about).  But this sort of banter really makes it feel to me like Eevee is the one who said to jimmm to 'suspect Eevee again because it would seem natural'.  I think this is one of the only times I've said this, but that post puts both Eevee and Jimmm in a terrible light in my opinion.

I wouldn't take the 'we' to be scum-specific, given that if Galz is Town then he has no idea who the scum are so can't be looking at their reactions specifically.

Also, Galz seems to be doing a fair bit of finger-pointing. Not too sure if that's Town or scum?

I believe the above (bolded) is a scumslip. Why? I find it much more likely that a scum will have a harder time remembering who the ICs are than a townie would. As evidence, I sight myself in the previous game. I just caught myself several times in the early game when I was about to call shraeye out, and then realized I couldn't.

As scum, you want to fire on all cylinders, directing suspicion to everyone. So it is natural to see somebody write something, and try to spin it as scummy. Of course we know Galz isn't scummy, but the kind of person who can momentarily forget that in order to call an IC scummy is a scum.

I actually think Robz is town here. Which is a change from how I read him through the middle of our forum mafia careers - a span where he was largely and mostly scum.

As to Insom's question,

I suspect Archetype the most, and Eevee second most.  (jimmm is third, through connection with eevee mostly, I'm worried that the stilted style I'm seeing him post in is just reflective of a newer player wondering what one writes, instead of scum worried about what not to write).  What really really pops out to me with Archetype is his reaction to me demanding he show up and post something.  HE's aware of his lurking meta, and would be aware that as scum this would be a liability.  I see town-archetype coming in with an odd question as to why I did that, or just ignoring me.  He not only didn't question me, but immediately jumped through the hoops I had set up, all so that I wouldn't vote for him.  I got a huge please-let-me-survive read, and I've only ever gotten those from scum.  In a writeup analysis by Archetype (#147) he lists Robz as lurking.  He then suspects me in #204 for not posting often, and lacking substance in my posts.  For somebody with a lurking meta, he sure seems quick to point the finger at others for lurking.  Maybe he's subtly trying to point out that he's not the worst, in case he gets lynched for that.  I really feel like that's what he's up to.

As for Eevee, his interaction with Galz in 74-77 look bad.  I agree with Galz's thoughts, because I think a real threat of 'contribute or die', will make scum very worried about having the lowest post count.  The threat, and scum's belief that you'll go through with it, will definitely change their behavior and make them easier to spot.  HOWEVER, eevee doesn't make this argument, he just first reacts weirdly to it, like he thought it was a joke, then when Galz seemed to imply it wasn't, Eevee agreed with Galz.  #143 as I said before, sounds like Eevee was the one plotting who to send suspicion at in daychat.  Even if he's not plotting with Jimmmm, it really seems like this isn't just 'a thought he had', but was instead something that he literally did.  Also, eevee's worry about Jimmm's 'case' (which i don't even recall, shows me how worrisome/good that case wasn't) seems odd.

At this point, I'd bet the game on Robz.  His first major post of the day just had a towny tone to it (in addition to the post I quoted above).  Frustration at the humor I've been putting down is something which I could see town doing, but not scum.  Scum would probably think "yes, I can get posts without posting content just by replying to this!" 

So in conclusion, Scum: Archetype (#1), Eevee (#2).    Robz is town.

Insomniac, I don't think that, overall, you'll see busing as hard. I wouldn't at all be surprised for scum to either not mention their buddies, or even go so far as to rate them Town. Even if we end up lynching said scum, we have to go back and WIFOM at best if their "town" read was actually on a scumbuddy, or on an actual town member. Often times people do a reverse OMGUS, which is quite powerful as scum. See D1 of the last blitz game, where I got Eevee to swear up and down that I was town at deadline by absolutely and resolutely standing by "read" of him as being town.

My point is that for scum, listing a buddy as "town" isn't as damning as listing them as "scum" - since lynching said scum could still result in his posted "reads" being both accurate, and inaccurate.

I liked that Frisk wasn't afraid to change his read on me. I don't see him acting any different than last game, which is a good sign. On the other hand, I feel like Galz's vote was pretty justified. Frisk did NOT have a good reaction to some needling from Galz there. Still, I think I'm least comfortable with the lynch heading in that direction.

My re-read of shraeye left me pretty sour on him, (all the non-seriousness!), and I don't know what to make of him being okay with me calling him out for that. The question is, if he were scum, would he fight me there? Or would he try to acknowledge my concerns about his humor as legitimate? I'm not actually sure what shraeye would do.

I think as a member of town you're much more likely to be critical of everyone because you know nothing (or that's generally the case). From a scum perspective, you're all too aware of everything that's going on.

No, no, no. You're wrong. As a member of the scum, you're more likely to be critical of everyone. You need to get the real town lynched, and you need to criticize your scummates so you don't get pegged as "in cahoots" with them. Scum, in this game, has to take things people say and tear them down, or try to spin them. (Not for absolutely everyone--you can choose a buddy, maybe two.) So I can much more easily see scum forgetting Galz is IC, than town doing that. I very nearly forgot shraeye was IC in the last game, because I was in such a rush to slam him for something.

Wouldn't gamble on anyone but the IC's or myself (no one seems towny yet). Scum reads are also super vague, lets say Robz for lurking and Jimm for weird feeling  (his explanation makes sense and I seriously appreciate the effort though).

Robz and Archetype have said so little and Jimmm feels forced to me (although again, I'm not sure about this), so by PoE Frisk would then be my top town read. I wouldn't gamble the game on any of these reads unless I had to!

I agree with shraeye here. Eevee seems to be slightly buddying up to the ICs. He says he calls Galzria smart because he thinks he is. While I do agree with him, that sort of thing is better talked about after the game, not during.

He says this right before he calls Galzria smart. A smart Galzria would post this 'voting plan' to try and flush out scum by seeing how often they post. You say that you 'think you've posted more than almost anyone here'. I know this is your meta, but it seems you've posted in this game more than usual.

Looking back, I couldn't find too much info on Eevee, but he is just giving me a very bad feeling. I could see Jimmmm/Eevee/Captain_Frisk on a scum team, with the 'fight' between Jimmm and Eevee being fake.

I'd be overall ok with a Eevee or Jimmmm lynch. A lot more Eevee than Jimmmm. I do want to see how the ICs weigh in on this.

Both ICs thought he was scum. I had a slight scum read, more so on Eevee than shraeye, but a scum read on Eevee none of the less. Also, Frisk's math made a lot of sense. I saw that shraeye needed 1 more vote needed to lynch, and since I didn't want to not participate at the end of D1, I thought I would just get it over with. Some one had to lynch him anyways.

But now that he is confirmed town, it proves that the ICs aren't always right. I'm now slightly suspicious of CF now for starting that wagon. Not suspicious enough to warrant a vote, but I'll be keeping an eye on what he posts.

I already knew you weren't scum. Your vote on Shraeye was a dead giveaway to town Eevee. When the day began I saw Insomniac's vote on you and started to comment on it, but I realized halfway through my post what he was doing so I didn't say anything. I too forgot that a triple hammer within seconds was possible.

I knew that CF was scum, and I was 80% sure on Robz after his post. But I was driving and didn't have a chance to say anything at all. I wasn't sure between Jimmmm and Arche, but Jimmmm's case on Arche being all over three board looked darn good.

Your vote was only #2, at a time when Eevee looked liked the lynch. I had shortly before given my blessing to Insomniac to hammer away at Eevee. It seemed a perfect opportunity for scum!Frisk to move to scum!Shraeye so that you couldn't be paired together the following day. It was easier to try and call your bluff on this then get a major change in wagon at the last minute since I was pretty sure Eevee was town. I'm away from my computer now and couldn't put together a real, full case on you in the closing hour, and I thought there was a decent chance Shraeye was scum.
