B-crat > draw?!

on this ugly, trashless Hag board:

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/27/game-20121227-063817-f1355309.html

I manage to hold the Curse split to 6-4 taking only one Hag, which I figure is pretty good considering the second Hag itself is a dead card for him later, that he had to pay for. But then the Bureaucrat attack seems to be enough to keep me at bay? I mean, my money density would seem to be better, even without taking into account the possibility of drawing with Council Room. (Never mind the Bazaars; I guess any plan of chaining stuff was doomed from the start...)

I think a turn 26 duchy buy would have given you the win?

No, they would have been tied and he'd have lost on the tiebreaker.

Thanks, oops got the players muddled up in the log :(
Unless I have got mixed up again I think vetoing Harem on T26 might be better?
At that stage I think the best you can hope for is the draw.

I quite like Bureaucrat's attack in these sorts of games.
Its subtle but hurts more that you realise.

Don't forget about bureaucrat's top deck silver gaining, in trash games, that's pretty good, like a reverse self sea hag. I sometimes pick up Explorer for much the same reason.

I did consider it. Yeah, I do check the point counter obsessively in games like this, and play to win. Maybe I should think more about accepting draws, though :/

Drawing decks often suffer when curses are introduced and this is no exception. The villages become disconnected from the drawing cards. Big hands of poor cards can still be poor. Harems are an important card in this kingdom and turn both the bureaucrat and the contraband into useful cards.

You can't really expect to build an engine with only 2 Bazaars and 2 CRs...

Well, yeah, but I thought there were going to be more before at the start, before buying Duchies started to look attractive. Had I thought it through and anticipated this endgame, I wouldn't have bothered with the Bazaars.

Harem I get, but why Contraband?

Contraband benefits from strong 5s/6s on the board, because when Gold is blocked, you have something else powerful to buy.

He had $8 and two buys. He could've bought Duchy + Estate and win.
