What you can do is, make a Bot Trap subforum. Have new posters be in a special group that can only post in that forum. At one post you graduate to normal poster. Bots don't know to post in the Bot Trap forum and so generally fail to post. New posters have to say hello in the Bot Trap forum but it's not hard.
