Joining Void is lose-lose.  If we win, we still lose 4 ships thanks to the Grudge.  If we lose, we lose the committed ships PLUS a ship from the Grudge.  Neither of those options seems palatable to me, especially with ship-sniper Shadow and ship-eater Void in play.  A first colony's not worth that Catch-22.

Joining Grudge may be risky - our ships, our precious ships! - BUT at least provides an actual benefit if we win!

Mimic sends 2 ships to the Defense, from Planets A and B.

I got with Grudge.  8)

No problem. The few ships you all have remaining in the game the easier it'll be for me to mop up.

You're bluffin'.

You're right. I risked 4 ships after having lost 1 to Shadow because I feel like losing them.

The Shadow is not fooled by Void's bluster.

The Shadow shall send a ship from B, C, D, and E. Let's make this count.

Totals:
Offense - 4
Defense - 13

Main players, please submit your encounter cards.

Defensive allies, please tell me what rewards you want, and how you want me distribute your ships on your planets if you win.

Hear that? No? It's the sound of nothing. Absolute oblivion. It's what awaits each and every one of the 13 ships that oppose me.

Void ships in game: 20.
Total for everybody else: 67 and falling...

Encounter cards have been selected.

Void reveals a Negotiate.
Grudge reveals an Attack 20.

Defense wins!

Offensive ships go to the warp.
Void collects 4 cards in compensation.

Defensive allies collect rewards and return home (please tell me what they are and where your ships go)

Mimic begins his first turn.

Compensation has been collected and rewards have been distributed.

Mimic draws.... a Purple destiny!  Silly destiny, Mimic doesn't want to attack itself!

Some of Mimic's colonists on his home planet feel funny... Shadow assassinates a ship on Mimic A.

Mimic draws again.  And it's another Green destiny!

Mimic will encounter Grudge.

Please hold off on launching ships and inviting allies till Shadow decides what ship to assassinate.  Feel free to CO your actions though.
