My first thought was that you underestimated apothecary quite a bit.
But my plan would be to get a single familiar asap, and then focus everything on deck cycling.
Get in 2-3 apothecaries. Slowly build towards a governors-militia engine.
At some point I'd hope to play a militia before upgrading an estate into a mining village.
If you really get it running add a transmute.
So... open courtyard/potion. On the next round, if you get the 3/4P split you both got, buy another courtyard and a familiar.
After this it depends too much on what happends. But I don't like buying silvers here.
