Like some of the folks on bgg - i think its explicitly designed this way - you look at 110 for $10 - and think you're getting a deal - you want those free tokens!

The payment model, I'm guessing, is that you give FunSockets money, and some dude from Elbonia intercepts your connection and spends it.

Do not trust this site with any personal information. It has zero security.
I think Dogbert conjured it up.

I'm hoping they have some method of paying through a trusted external site (e.g. Amazon). I'm not giving them my credit card number directly, that's for sure.

Technically, $20 for 230 and $7 for 70 gets you 5 mini-packs for $27.

I'd say about $35 AUD is what I would think of as approximately the upper limit of reasonable for the whole game including expansions. I might stretch the point a bit if it was an absolutely stellar implementation and was getting rave reviews about how much better it was than poor old isotropic (can you even imagine that alternate universe?).

But at a price of $35 AUD approximately there is no way I'd be recommending it to my various friends and acquaintances who like the occasional game but are not dedicated board / computer / card game players (like me). And that is without even getting into the micro payment stuff. There is absolutely no way I am recommending a game that includes that sort of bullshit to anyone.

its $75 if you buy a 580 ($50), a 230 ($20)and a 50 pack ($5), since you need 840 coins

Note: added bold items

It was calculated that there will be 14 card packs (including Guilds) at 60 coins per pack

So buying those bulk coin packs will get you enough coin for everything @$75

And you would have 20 coins left over for all those zaps!

I have 200 microsoft point sitting in my xbox live account that I'll never be able to spend.

The exchange rate was $1=80 points, presumably because they wanted to make it harder to figure out how much games cost.  But that's fine, I can do math, who cares about that.

The real "screw you" was that most downloadable games on xbox arcade cost $5 or $10 (i.e. 400 or 800 points) while, originally, you could only buy points in 1000-point increments.  So one day I wanted to buy a game for 800 points, but I had to pay $12.50 for 1000 points because I didn't have a choice.  That left me with 200 points sitting in my account.

Now, lots of people complained about this, and microsoft eventually capitulated, changing the purchase bundles to $5 increments instead of 1000-point increments.  Now, whenever I buy a game, I can just buy 800 points for $10 (or 400 points for $5) and spend them immediately.

Of course, that means I still have those 200 points.  Just sitting there, laughing at me.  They'll never get spent as long as designers price games as multiples of 400 points.  I consider it the price of doing business with assholes.

There are plenty of things you could spend those 200 points on, such as a virtual hat for your avatar!

Question from a new user:

Say I have Intrigue, Prosperity, Hinterlands, and Cornucopia.  My friend has Prosperity, Hinterlands, Alchemy, and Seaside.  What cards will the two of us be able to play with?

I think the way it works now, one of you two 'hosts' the game and you can use all the host's cards.

So you could use a mix of (Base, Intrigue, Prosperity, Hinterlands, Cornucopia) or a mix of (Base, Prosperity, Hinterlands, Alchemy, Seaside) but you wouldn't be able to make a game with, say, Seaside and Cornucopia cards mixed together.
