Where did I go wrong in this conspirator game? and if I should have bought a bishop, when is the right time to buy one?

I think your opponent and you had pretty equal strategies and luck (although your opponent got the 5/2 but courtyard is fine), and your opponent went first.

With the opponent using a bishop you don't need to trash so aggressively yourself. You want to open with steward and spice merchant anyway but try to set up the drawing and conspirator chain quickly using the steward mostly for coins and cards. You also skipped a courtyard for two coins then bought a smithy for 6 coins and doesn't seem ideal.

I would suggest also trying to Duchy dance at the end.

Torturer chains? How primitive.

Because of Steward and his Bishops, I don't think the opponent's benefit for Bishop is much of an issue. So, yeah, pick up a Bishop.

I just played this board solo to see how a plain Bishop/Steward Golden Deck would compete, but I forgot to get the log
All I remember is that by the time your game ended (turn 14), the Golden Deck was already set up and I had already Bishopped a few (4?) Provinces by then. I did remember to give myself a 5/2 split (Bishop/-). It would at least compete with your strategies, but does anyone have insight as to which strategy is best?
