Really boring board. Tons of villages and throne room but no good actions to make them worth it. So I really didn't know how to play it. I went for a basic big moneyish deck and lost. Help on how I could have done better would be helpful.

Noble Brigand is pretty reasonable to get in money games, though less so in Colony games because it doesn't touch Platinum. You got quite a bit unlucky when he trashed your very first Gold with his Noble Brigand. Getting a NB of your own on an odd $4 hand might have been a good idea. Oh, and your Tact collided with your Plat...

I probably would have gotten fewer  Native Villages, an extra Tactician, and maybe a Noble Brigand of my own.

Honestly, spam Ventures.

to what extent? Do you think I should have bought venture over my first gold? Over tactician?

The first Gold is preferable to Venture, and I think you should just skip Tactician altogether. There's not really a need to get big hands and Venture is good enough at getting your good treasures (ideally, Platinum) in play more often. I solitaired this twice and got 76 and 80 VP after 24 turns.

Open Silver/Silver, get 2 Tacticians, spam NV and collect lots of cards on the NV mat while playing Tactician every turn. Every few turns unload your mat and buy Colony. This is probably really really awful, but sounds fun.

this may be a BOM game. Once opponent brigands, prefer venture to gold till you can get to platinum (brigand may give you copper, but... eh). Not clear to me that tactician is worth the opportunity cost of another venture.

(to clarify on the "eh" there, it's just that it's really unlikely that brigand gives you copper till late game if you buy only money, but late game once you have some platina in there the venture is still at least almost as good as gold)

The simulator prefers Venture over Gold from the start (and no Tactician). A giant stack of Ventures helps you find that Platinum which pretty much guarantees a Colony buy. Gold apparently gets in the way.

Here's an attempt at a double Tactician engine with NV's:

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201207/21/game-20120721-035142-f0b0955b.html

It's a real game, but the n00b could have easily beaten me. Still, the strategy might be viable with some sort of +buy (like a Nomad Camp?).

In this case, you just mean that you had 2 Tacticians, right?  Not the "tactician every turn" kind of engine?

The real double Tact isn't possible here because there is no treasureless money. The occasional double Tact turns do help to get a lot of cards on the NV mat. But the engine is clearly very weak.
