Lyncher-Lover-Survivor

You are both lovers with and lyncher of X. If they die, you die. You only win if you both kill your target and survive until the end of the game. Also, you're town and your lyncher-lover is scum.

I was going to criticize this terrible role, but then I read further up the thread. nvm...

Wizards?
Pah in my days we had to make do with a Hoop and a stick!

No, the set up is
3 on each time assigned randomly and in secret.
three players are drawn randomly against each other (could be same team or opposing)
Three threads created.
Players have one day to talk to each other to convince them not to shoot.
Players then PM the Mod 'Shoot' or 'Shake'
If you get shot you die.
If you stay alive you earn a point for your team.
Team with the most points after three rounds wins. (You are able to see previous threads)

Seems like either random or prisoner dillema thing or.. well, I don't know. We can try it out :D

Well, at least first day, second day there might be not so random.
Also, it's quite better to shoot first day, as it is 60% enemy and 40% friend that you are facing that day.

Heh, unlikely though, I'm just about to pull MMMM II

Just a quick read down the forum:
RM 3 : Day 3
MMMM 2: Sign Ups
RM5 - Sign Ups
BM VI : Day 1
ZM3 - Looking to start

MX - About to start
M XI : Day 3
MXIII: Day 1
M XIV : Day 1
MX V - Sign Ups, Starts in a week or two
MXVI - Sign Ups

Hanabi I : Midway?
CE III  Midway?
CE IV Midway?
Resistance IV:  30% done
Diplomacy 2: Signs Ups Open

3 Games on Day 1,
1 massive game only on day 3,
a BM with no info that means it will take ages (See Frisks BM for reference) on Day 1.
two more that are likely to start at any time now.
4 other games ongoing at the same time.

And its slowly creeping up as it goes on.
Most of the people in a lot of those games are the same, its just going to make each game feel a bit weaker with less time to read, analyse, etc...

tl;dr version: Waaay to many games going on at the moment to even have sign ups for another one!

Yeah, everybody needs to chill and recognize that there are more would-be moderators than players. I am committed to playing every game, no matter how many there are. But eventually I'm going to be in games by myself if you guys keep this up. Slow it down!

yeah, mafia is fun.  But burning out by having too much fun is a shameful way to decide to quit having fun.

People need to be more patient and not start opening games in an eagerness to get things started.
Theres no reason why a sign up needs to be open weeks before a game starts, what purpose does that serve?

So, in this light, MMMMM 2: Ozle and the Argonauts will be put on hold until such time as there is a manageble number of games again.

M XIV : Day 1

MXIV is in Day 2, but in general I agree with your point about moderators needing to be patient and not rushing to start a million games.

I have a solution.  I will mod a game for all would-be moderators, and only the winner may start a new game.

You can call that game a Gauntlet of Fools, since it's people who want to host more than play ;)   (oops that includes me)

I personally see nothing wrong with opening games early. In fact I see a benefit to it and one that I have personally used.

Having multiple games open at a time allows players to have more choices in which games they can choose to play. For instance, while Grujah's XIII hydra game is cool and has an interesting mechanic, it wasn't really something that I was interested in participating in. However, if it was the only game available, I would have joined it to have something to play. But since Jorbles game was open instead, I joined that, because it looked like a game I was more interested in playing.

Multiple games open at a time allows players to be more selective in which games to play. If you want to play all the games, join all the games. If you don't want to play a certain game, don't play it.

Ozle, I would hope that my opening of MVI didn't cause you to to shut down your game. It appears that it did. If so I am sorry, and I hope that you will open it again as that was certainly not my intent. My intent was to allow players to have an opportunity to look at the game I am running and decide if it is something they want to play. If not enough players sign up, I'll either cancel it or modify it.

Sure it makes the que a little crowded and there is a delay in starting games, but I don't see that being a problem.

Twasn't you Yuma don't worry
Wasn't anybody personally, just the general way its going.

"Multiple games open at a time allows players to be more selective in which games to play"
Which means that half of them don't get off the ground, which sucks for those mods who have put the time and effort into creating it.

15 forums games, spread amongst what, 30 different players?

I know nothing about the other forum games myself aside from mafia.... so I can't comment on them. But we have yet to have a game where no one joined. And yes, it does suck for a mod to not have a game get off the ground. However, from a personal point of view, I would think that if not enough people joined my game it was because 1. it needed to include too many people or 2. wasn't an interesting setup. That can be remedied by 1. waiting for enough players to join 2. changing the number of players needed or 3. altering the setup.

However, that is how I would deal with my game not getting off the ground and I understand that others may be frustrated. To that end I think that if someone is ambivalent about joining my game or someone else's I would say to join the one that was queued first.

Are you implying we should be more actively recruiting? Am I implying that? I am, but I don't really know a good way to do it.

Originally, my game had 25 players, not including a few regulars like theorel, pingpongsam, archetype, lekkit, and jorbles. So I think 30 is the absolute maximum. Only half those people play reliably. Only I, Robz888, play every game. Frisk, Eevee, Galzria, Jotheonah, and Insomniac play nearly every game.

I think newbie games are important, we haven't had one it a while. MX attracted: Jorbles, ashersky, Cuzz, Voltaire and GeoLib as new players. All but GeoLib have played in other games after that.

of course... the new players need someone to kill day 1 or night 1... They certainly dont' want to kill each other in their first game!
