Royal Seal, Grand Market, and auto-money

Is there any reason to have Royal Seal not autoplay?  Just played a game with Royal Seal and Grand Market, and missed my GM on a turn where I had RS/Gold/Silver/Copper/Estate because when I hit the money button, it didn't play the Royal Seal...which meant I "couldn't" get GM, so it played the Copper and I wound up having to settle for Gold.

It is side-effect of adding the "undo" button, it was easier to code it that way.

Incidentally, I believe using the undo button would have actually allowed you to pick up the GM in your scenario.

Gotcha, thanks.  I haven't gotten it through my head yet that the undo button exists.

Personally, I think it was mach easier and more straight forward before the undo button existed. I know a lot of people would disagree.

There is an undo button? Really, I never used and never really noticed it.

For the benefit of anyone else who hasn't seen it: after you play basic Treasure cards (with no effect other than +$X) an undo button appears, allowing you to reverse the decision to play the Treasure.  This doesn't work with Treasure cards that have any other effect: this is applies to the obvious cases like Venture and Loan, but also to the more passive effects like Quarry and, as seen here, Royal Seal.  It does not apply to Harem or Cache, which are functionally just Silver or Gold.

The only time you don't want to play Royal Seal is with Mint or perhaps Mandarin.

As it says "you may" you can still send a bought card to the discard instead of on top of your deck.

And odd situations with Farmland and a $7 card on the board or buying Farmland after you have played 6 Highways to make that Royal Seal into a Province. :>

The same 'improvement potential' exists for Quarry, Grand Market and auto money. I remember a case where the auto money button played my Coppers because it thought I couldn't afford a Grand Market anyway, but I could have bought one by playing the Quarry which the auto money button ignored (and not the Coppers).
