Game Tracker:

The Rules:

The Golden Rule:
This is a game. Everyone who signs up to play must be considerate of each other, never get personal, and focus on having fun. Once the game starts, having signed up is a commitment: inactivity is just as inconsiderate as rude comments.

The Standard Rules:
1. No communication between players outside of the game thread or shared QTs at any time. This includes passing references, jokes, or cases in other games or threads, whether in context or not.
2. If the game thread is locked, do not post. If you are unsure if something is locked, ask the mod by PM.
3. Direct or verbatim quoting of mod-provided information (including QT opening and closing times) is strictly forbidden. Paraphrasing is okay.
4. Actions with instructions that do not specify a game state will be resolved in the order they are received.
5. All night actions must be submitted within 36 hours of day ending.
6. Players must post once every 24 hours.
7. Do not edit or delete posts, ever. If you need to clarify or correct something, post again.
8. Invisible text, font size less than 10, and spoiler tags are not allowed.
9. Cryptography is not allowed.
10. The time between an exile being reached and a flip being provided is called twilight. All players may continue posting during this time, including the exiled player.
11. Dead players may not post in thread or QT, except their Role QT. An exiled player is not "dead" until a flip has been provided.
12. Personal multimedia, such as video or audio recordings, are not allowed in the game thread.

The Voting Rules:
1. Votes should be in this format: Vote: Playername. Unambigiuous nicknames are acceptable, or any string that uniquely identifies a user. Note that the point of voting is, in fact, unambiguity, and attempting to make it unclear to other players (or, of course, mods) which user you are voting for is very ill-advised.
2. Unvotes should be in this format: unvote or Unvote: Playername.
3. Unvotes are not required if changing your vote from one player to another.
4. You may NOT vote: no exile.
5. Exiles occur when a simple majority (rounded up) of living players is reached. Once reached, an exile cannot be undone.
6. If a majority lynch is not reached by the Day's deadline, the player with the most votes will be exiled. In case of a tie, the first player to reach the tied vote count will be exiled.

The Rest:
1. Bold, Brown text are reserved for the MODs. Players may not use it.
2. If you have an issue or problem with the game, please PM the Mod. Do not post complaints in the game thread.
3. Mods make mistakes - please point them out gently. If they can be corrected, they will. If irreversible, they will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4. If a mod error disadvantages one faction greatly, the game may be called off.
5. Ask all questions and make all requests directly to the Mod via PM. Questions deemed as "universal" (defined as questions for which the answers should be available to all players) will be requested to be re-posted in the Game Thread and answered there.
6. Players may request prods on other players if they have not posted in 24 hours. Players are subject to replacement or modkill after one prod.
7. All rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, as determined by the mod.
8. Each player will receive their own QT, regardless of role. Don't quote from it.
9. If the game goes on for 3 days and 3 nights without a lynch or nightkill, town wins.

Deadlines:
1. Days will last 5 IRL days.
2. Nights will last 48 hours.

Game Setup:

- 2 Mafia Goons
- 1 Mafia Roleblocker
- 5 VTs
- 1 Town Compulsive Doctor
- 1 Town Tracker
- 1 Town (potentially paranoid) cop

Role Descriptions:

Mafia Goon
Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Goon, along with your partners, [Player Name] and [Player Name].
Abilities:
Factional communication: You may speak at night in discord.
Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partners may perform the factional kill.
Win condition:
You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occurring.

Mafia Roleblocker
Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Roleblocker, along with your partners, [Player Name] and [Player Name].
Abilities:
Factional communication: You may speak at night in discord.
Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partners may perform the factional kill.
Roleblock: Each night phase, you individually may choose to roleblock a player. You may not roleblock and kill in the same night.
Win condition:
You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occurring.

Vanilla Townie
Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Vanilla Townie.
Abilities:
Your weapon is your vote, you have no night actions.
Win condition:
You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.

Town Compulsive Doctor
Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Compulsive Doctor.
Abilities:
Each night phase, you must protect one player in the game from being nightkilled. In the event you don't select a target, your action will be randomised by the mod.
Win condition:
You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.

Town (potentially paranoid) Cop
Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Cop.
Abilities:
Each night phase, you may investigate one player in the game by PM'ing the mod. You will get results back in the form of Town, Mafia or No Result.
Your sanity is altered by whether or not fellow Town successfully targets you at night.
Win condition:
You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.

Town Tracker
Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Tracker.
Abilities:
Each night phase, you may choose a player in the game to track. You will see who they target (if anybody).
Win condition:
You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.

Clarifications:
1. If the cop gets a paranoid result, that result will always show as mafia-aligned.
2. The Tracker will receive the same result if blocked vs no result.
3. The cop will only get a paranoid result if they are SUCCESSFULLY targeted by Town. If Tracker/Doctor is blocked while targeting the Cop, the Cop's result will be sane.

Why is the Doctor compulsive? Seems weird.

Also, something went wrong with your game numbering. I think you used the number from the last game you ran.

1. If the cop gets a paranoid result, that result will be opposite of the true result. They will not be informed if it is real or paranoid.

I think this is worth drawing attention to. I would have thought Paranoid meant "Always gets a guilty result".

Faust - good catch I did make it off a previous game will change thanks.
Jimmm - it is only paranoid if they are successfully targeted.

I think this is worth drawing attention to. I would have thought Paranoid meant "Always gets a guilty result".

In fact, looking at the wiki, I think this is the intention - what the wiki now calls a "Cynical Cop" was called a "Paranoid Cop" when the article for this setup was written.

(You're of course free to make changes to the setup as it appears on the wiki.)

Faust - Doctor is compulsive to balance the game
Yeah I mean I get the intention, but I don't see how a Doctor would ever think it's beneficial to not use their PR in this setup, so in my mind the compulsiveness doesn't do anything.

Also confused that the Doctor is compulsive but the Tracker isn't.

Jimmm - it is only paranoid if they are successfully targeted.

I'm drawing a distinction between what the wiki (here) now calls "Inverse Cop" and what it now calls "Cynical Cop". I believe the intention is for a targeted Cop to become Cynical (always guilty and therefore useless) rather than Inverse (swapped and therefore potentially useful).

Tracker has inherent upside of results, doctor is only viable if they do something useful. Again, balance. This is the game script I based it off of - https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Follow_the_Cop..._or_Not

I made some changes with the paranoid stuff to see how it will run.

I guess the Compulsiveness makes a bit more sense to me if the intention of the original setup was to effectively disable the Cop (by turning them Cynical). Still think it's always better to use a Doc if you have it.

Anyways, /in

I do not beleieve anyone else has read yet - but the change has been made:

- If the cop gets a paranoid result, it will always show as mafia-aligned.

I have a ton of thoughts on this, that I don't want to discuss pre-game, but if you all don't get into in the game I would love to talk to you after about it. It is kind of one of the reasons I picked the set up.

Anyways - 10 slots left!

I assume the doc is compulsive so they won't just choose to never use their power in order to make the cop more likely to get a result. But if that's the case, shouldn't they also be disallowed from self-targeting? Or is that just implied?

After further thought, Inverse is definitely not what you want, since it still allows FtC.

Self-targeting is usually disallowed. Especially for Doctors, it ought to be. You don't want to create a permanently Bulletproof role.

I would play but I've been in every game so far and I'm not sure if I'm taking up slots from other people who aren't getting to play as much. I'll sign up a bit later if the game doesn't fill up otherwise.
