I have yet to post much about last game, but I think lying as town is perfectly acceptable. As it's a tool town has since Mafia has more information.

It backfired me last ti, me since I had the role detective, otherwise it probably would have worked

Also, I don't recall lurking day two of last game. I do seem to lurk d1s, because I don't like day one, hopefully people will stop exiling me for that

I explained it in the speccy qt of that game, while lying as town can be beneficial for town lying as scum is extremely beneficial for scum. Hence allowing lying as town opens the door to lie as scum and say well I was lying as town for X or Y reason. The upside is so much bigger for scum collectively its better for town to refuse to allow town to lie thus preventing scum from lying.

Scum is going to lie every game no matter what. Selective lying by town is a powerful tool. Everything we say is suspicious. Anyways. Of course it should be questioned, but it doesn't need to be indicative of alignment.

What is this insane idea of "scum lies why shouldn't town". You do know that point is to try to not look scummy as town right?

well i don't love it but vote: scola

Spoken like a scum player.

This makes no sense literally any townie would do this at the deadline.

For future game, I'll also add not posting, doesn't necessarily mean lurking.

It’s actually the definition of lurking. The term lurking does not imply intent.

We all have lives and we’re all busy irl, but you gotta play the game you sign up for. Not posting is anti town and hence is always justifiable to exile people for it, as a deterrent as much as to catch scum. There’s a reason “exile all lurkers” is a thing.

It’s the same with lying. Don’t do it. It’s bad. Town has two superpowers (not counting PRs) which are a. Numbers and b. Scum has to lie and town doesn’t. If you lie as town you rob us of the second one.

The base game of Dominion definitely feels…aged partly because there is nothing surrounding the main mechanism: the game is the mechanism. The more recent adaptations of deck building uses the mechanism either as part of a larger effort or by building a game around it. Rarely do I see a pure deck builder any longer. Perhaps, that’s one reason why the game feels bland to lifestyle gamers because the core game no longer offers anything that other games doesn’t also showcase.

In any group of people gathered together to play games, it is really easy, due to the uneven nature of social relationships, to clue one and only one person into most hints. People have varying degrees of shared references, and know one another from different places. It’s not fair for me to play with my girlfriend Katy and anyone else: a giant clam comes up, and I could play badly on purpose and say ‘pearl’, but I can also just say ‘Harry Sullivan’. Katy knows Doctor Who as well as I do and will definitely remember the time in “Genesis of the Daleks” when the companion of that name was memorably almost eaten by a giant clam.
[...]
I guess you could deliberately try to play Dixit badly by eschewing all ‘personal’ clues, but that sounds difficult to do and like an unpleasant play experience. A game that requires you to screw it up so it’s functional is a bit broken.

Galzria has received a bad review! They were Dixit, Spiel des Jahres 2010, a Nightchat Cop Neighbor!

Nope it does not— just re-read the setup. Town gets one modification for free. So we don’t know anything new.

K so fun story - I land the other day, flip the phone on and at first I saw the day had ended and I was super pissed it ended soooo early... then I realized I just suck at math and I was never going to land in time.

I am pretty blown away that we ended up on a player that had literally done nothing.

I need to do a proper read through, but what is super weird about it is that we now know that Galz was Town and he seemed like he would of been a super viable alternative for skum to turn to. Yet it went to Pasta.

I am gonna dig into this a little but if anyone has any thoughts...

Interesting. I don’t feel like galz is the type of player to inform his neighbor that he is a cop I don’t think we necessarily assume scum took the become neoghbor thing.

I also think scum is less likely to kill their neighbor so actually a lean slightly towards the other neighbor being town.
