I've never seen a game go this fast before. What was to blame? Trading Post with a 5/2? The Caravans? Or was this just a quick game perfect storm??

Caravan + trading post is really good. The lighthouse helped and reduced the threat from the militia. The bazaars helped too although  buying caravans for 5 was probably just as good, if not better.

Ending on turn 12 is not that uncommon in my experience.  Masq mirror matches often do it, KC-Bridge can get set up that quickly on really favorable boards, various other things.

Fastest game I've ever seen is 9 turns.  Happened three times, all featuring Ironworks and either Silk Road or Gardens.

Councilroom has 'The Flash' award for games of 9 turns or less. I've done it twice. once was a 4p game but the other involved a hamlet/wharf/quarry match that ended on piles.

Multiplayer games with everyone spamming Governors can also go by extremely quickly.
