King's Court + Royal Carriage + Duration Card

I am trying to understand what cards should end up in play in the following situation:

1. Play two royal carriages and move the cards to the tavern
2. Play a King's Court
2.1. Play Church three times
3. Call a royal carriage and play the king's court again
3.1. Play Church
3.1.1 Call the royal carriage
3.1.2 Play the church again
3.2 Play Church
3.3 Play Church
4. End turn

This results in 7 churches being played. In dominion online, 1 King's Court, 2 Churches and a Royal Carriage remain on the play area after cleanup. At the beginning of next turn, the effects of 7 churches are resolved. For me this is a discrepancy between the cards in play and the effects being executed. Shouldn't two royal carriages stay in play?

A Royal Carriage only stays in play if it was used to play a Duration card. In your example, the second Royal Carriage was used to play a King’s Court; not a Duration. It doesn’t matter that the King’s Court then played a Duration. The total number of Duration effects you are getting doesn’t matter; what matters is which cards actually were used to play which cards.

Note that this is a change from an older rule, but it was changed quite a while ago. In a simpler example, if you use a Throne Room to play a Throne Room, and both plays of the second Throne Room play a Duration, you only keep the second Throne Room in play, not the first one.

I honestly think they should put a full stop to this whole TR stays aside stuff and introduce Replay tokens. If you play an Action twice, you put one token onto it. If you play it thrice, you put two tokens onto it. I think that'd solve lots of problems. It could be something for Seaside E2.
