I think there are 4 possibilities:

1. Joseph is town, and misread/forgot his role.

2. Joseph is scum, and he / his team didn't think about the likely fallout of targetting Dylan.

3. Joseph is town, and intentionally fakeclaimed with some plan.

4. Joseph is scum, and intentionally targetted Dylan, hoping that we would get into the WIFOM of situation 2, and end up concluding 1 or 3.

I can see, possibly, very unlikely, confusing having one PR for another. But confusing VT and PR? No way.

I was doing a though experiment about who/when people might fakeclaim as mayor/drunk
Then got distracted by real life, and when I came back to this, I obviously got confused

After the votes made no sense N1, I re-checked my role, but it was way too late then...

There's always the possibility of a troll. Or he's worried that if he admits to being scum he'll accidentally say something he shouldn't during twilight.

Maybe scum decided it was worth sacrificing Joseph to get rid of the town's mayor, and Joseph cooked up this crazy mistake defense overnight.

No, but I've often wondered in games I've played in the past if this could have been a possibility - could definitely make games like this one more interesting!

This is where Occam's razor cuts in a bit. One scenario involves 2 town PR's including a doc after a bodyguard already flipped, the other is just scum figured out a PR to kill rather than the IC.
