So, the scummiest of that list are EFHW... <snip>
Why do you think EFHW is scummy this game?

Snipping a much longer list there is way out of context.

Her subsequent play hasn’t been as scummy, but when I wrote that this morning she hadn’t been engaging much.

However, I’m finding you super scummy for digging in with your vote on me with zero reason. Same with gkrieg. I’m also not fond of Mix rushing the conversation to get me exiled to test Dylan and/or Joseph without doing any actual scum hunting. I’m wary of faust acting like an oracle who has some kind of inside information and I’m disappointed that I won’t get to keep playing. At this point, I’m really just kind of over it. No one cares if I’m scum or not. There is no case. Just a desire to test the claim that Joseph made before we had even decided if it was a good idea, and gkrieg, you, and faust have forced Dylan’s hand and de facto decided that  I’m the easiest target. It’s not mean, but it sure isn’t awesome to feel like fodder. We are not even trying to scum hunt. The entire day has been about mayor/drunk. To me, it feels unfair.. why not just use a RNG?  At the very least it’s a waste of time.

This is how I would expect Didds to act in this situation. My vote is still on her from RVS, and I mainly have left it there because I think wagons D1 are useful and I hadn't put in enough effort at that point to really try to find scum yet.

I think I put Didds on the slightest side of townie right now. Nothing she has done pops out as very scummy to me. I think she has had a fairly big shift in her play, but I don't think it comes from her being scum this game.

The possible existence of an insane cop is a pretty big nerf for town.

Biggest thing from the first few posts of EFHW is that it seems like she has thought about the game setup, which I think leans the slightest bit scummy for her (I may be remembering this wrong though).

EoD's in less than 24 hours, right? Hmm...

Request vote count

Coming momentarily.  Sorry, had a staff meeting after school and now lots of marking.  Finally taking a break from the marking.

EoD's in less than 24 hours, right? Hmm...

Request vote count
And also Request prods where appropriate

Do you have a list of who prods are appropriate for, or do you want me to do that work once I find time for it (likely later this evening)?

I'm  suspicious of Dylan here. I think he saw all the town cred Joseph was getting and decided he wanted some, too. The flaw in my argument is that we could possibly identify him as not having either role in the course of our tests.

This is a very interesting reaction to the Dylan claim. I don't think that is why scum fake claim something like drunk/mayor. Based on how most of the scum QTs have gone in the past, scum don't usually do THAT much setup talk at the beginning, so I think Dylan knowing that he was going to fakeclaim mayor if two did not claim is a little bit of a stretch.

vote: fang. Bad case.
Which one? I've made a number of cases, two each on MiX and scola I think.
The scumslip argument.

This is definitely more active that EFHW was in the last D1 I played with her.

Vote "count" 1.3:
Votes for EFHW: jotheonah, MiX, Swowl
Votes for fang: EFHW, scolapasta
votes for MiX: Joseph2302
votes for WestCoastDidds: faust, gkrieg13, infangthief

not voting: Dylan32, WestCoastDidds
(with 11 alive, it takes 6 votes to exile)

Reminder: Day 1 ends at 3:00pm EST on Tuesday, December 7th (that's just 22 hours away)

Fang's scumslip argument was too contrived,  so it looked to me like scum trying to appear to be scumhunting.

This is good reasoning.

Eh, I think I like an EFHW exile even less than a Didds exile.

unvote

I'm also pretty ok with treating the mayors as ICs for now. I think testing them is useful for sure, but at this point is going to take too much time.

I don't think scum fakeclaims mayor here.

So that leaves 6 people, 2 with votes. I'll go reread fang and MiX real quick.

But actually, vote: Didds

I don't like this vote. But otherwise, don't see anything really in fang's posts. Can't really get a good read on him D1 when I haven't really played with him before.

As far as exiling WCD, meh. I mean if we want a lurker, I guess. But I've never been a fan of exiling lurkers D1, and WCD at least says she was on vacation and has a reasonable excuse for it. I'm more curious about gkrieg, joth, and swowl. Especially the last two, as they are usually more prolific.

Where you guys at?

Just watching, waiting, disliking day 1. I weighed in on the claims thing quite a bit. And I shared that I think EFHW is a better exile than didds, which I stand by. I think the fang “scum slip” case was bad but it thought EFHW’s vote based on that was worse. And then they did something else that pinged me, but I can’t remember what it was.

I hear a lot of complaining about how we're not doing any scumhunting and not a lot of scumhunting.

I'm scumhunting, FWIW. I just don't broadcast my results.

Observing is not complaining. You’ve offered nothing up enigmatic she’s scum one-offs, so there is nothing for me to say to you.

It goes right to the heart of the matter re this mayor situation.
What do you mean by this?
... We had not reached a consensus on claiming when it actually happened, so that was a pointless conversation.

And I have no idea why having both Dylan and Joseph vote/exile the same person (me!) would help us learn anything except that they aren’t both drunk. ...
I mean, I know that much, but how does what Didds said there "go to the heart of the matter"?
The heart of the matter for me is the ways it which the discussion seemed just a bit pointless. Until she posted, I thought I was the only one feeling that way.

I don't think fakeclaiming mayor would be a smart scum move, but I don't feel either claim is particularly compelling, and there are weak spots in both, as I have pointed out. I don't want to hand them IC status quite yet.
You pointed out weak spots in Joseph's claim?
I looked back and I see I was more questioning him in several different ways rather than the claim specifically.

I reread fang. His early posts are pretty fluffy, but then later he does seem to be doing scumhunting. I feel less confident about my vote, but this being D1 close to deadline, I'll stay there until find something better.

The more I think about it the more I see him contributing to conversations that distract or derail, and generally doing very little to move us forward. I’m also not fond of the way he’s buddying up to MiX.

Math will quote the hammer, by the way, so we don't need him to be active as long as we apply good conditional logic and have 1 person we want to exile.

That's a good point, I totally forgot about that. Also, I was more worried about it when I was thinking we were going to try to get Joseph on Didds real quick and then find a different wagon and not knowing how things would go.

The fact is, we are bagging as if you are both if now do having your both vote for me will not help us distinguish between who is drunk and who is a mayor.
The point of all this is not to find out who is Drunk and who is Mayor (because arguably that is not information we want to make available to scum). The point is just to test whether someone is lying.

So at first when I saw this post from Didds, it rang as scummy to me since I think it's been clear that we (or at least I if nobody else) wanted to keep that distinction away from scum. Definitely would be enough to bump Didds back into the exile pool for me, but then I remembered the whole vacation thing, and forgetting a detail like that when the idea earlier in the game was to figure out which the claimer was is pretty understandable, so probably it's nothing.
