gg wp everyone.

Leaving the most townie person alive and killing an easy scapegoat for no discernible reason shall henceforth be known as the Dylan Gambit.

I resent the "no discernible reason" part of this lol. I had a lot of reasons for it. Namely, the layers of reasons that we both had to either leave ash alive or to kill Space instead, thus making it an incredibly unlikely thing either of us would do. Also, we could name it The Second Space Gambit, since rather than inventing the gambit, Space was herself the gambit lol.

No, no, don't you dare weasel out of helping me kill mcmc. You were invaluable in my vigging decision!

Oh, by the way, this is my last post in my QT, in N2:

"I just had a dream where a bunch of people were replaced, including ash being replaced by mcmc and joth by e, then we exiled ash/mcmc for having been scum and e just surrendered. I guess my subconscious scumreads joth?"

Dream!MiX compliments Vig!MiX well, I suppose.

Well done Joth especially.. Dylan was high up my scumreads, and I had so nearly wanted to push there instead, but Joth was pretty much the towniest of the bunch remaining, as far as I could see.

Also, for the record, all three scum were on the mathdude wagon. So the next time someone says "scum wouldn't", just remember M134.

Yeah, I spotted that! Usually I'm the one pushing more than anyone else for looking at things that don't look like "normal" voting patterns in wagon analyses, whereas this game I was actually scureading faust for saying there was likely to be an off-wagon scum, just because I had such strong feelings about how the EoD1 had gone down.

I can kind in retrospect how faust would scumread me for that in return, though, because apparently even the scumteam read more into my EoD1. Honestly, I was just trying to optimise the amount of information available for town in the game, and not jump to rash conclusions with a newbie in our midst.

Also, thank you Robz for the save!! Sorry I couldn't avenge your death :-(

I found the traitor role to be very freeing. My reads were fake, but my interactions were genuine, which made the game like 50% easier, if that makes sense.

Oh...and what happened for the game to be cancelled the first time??

Something really unfortunate...

So game one, I got bodyguard QT, but was announced as IC in thread.

And I was IC, but you got announced in thread.  If only we could have played out that game instead - then at least I wouldn't have been exiled D1!  (Maybe night-killed in the absence of a bodyguard though).

Also, it's good to see I had the right place to vote D1 before I disappeared.  If only Town had looked where a conf-town (me) had voted, they could have picked Dylan off.  (My initial RVS D1 vote was a reference to the fact that I was IC in the cancelled game 1 instead of Dylan who was actually announced, but Dylan's response really did rub me the wrong way and I had strongly suspected him of being scum!)

What an awesome game!

The first full phase of this game was crazy from a mod perspective! Scum JOAT hard tunneling on the traitor who he figured was a vanilla townie, scummily hammers the town roleblocker who he thought was unfortunately the traitor! Then I target space who I think is the town vigilante that gets protected by robz the town bodyguard all when getting shot myself by the actual town vigilante!

I'm glad I'm the one participant in those interactions that was correct on my assumptions :P Although Robz was correct on who was being NK'd though.

Do you think town wins if we go for the Space kill?

I think there's an interesting generalized question for scum here: Do you shoot the townie with the best reads or the one who is best read?

The first one. A townie that is best read that does not have the best reads is what wins scum games.

This is funny in retrospect
I agree that town!ash would also be able to pinpoint 1 scum in 3 players. But scum!ash can also know both scum: if he's a traitor, for example.
Wait, the Traitor knows who the mafia are? Where did you obtain this information?

It's in the "standard" definition of traitor on mafiascum so I've just been assuming it's true here.

Swowl, can you confirm that a traitor, if there is one, would know who their partners are?

I go with the latter -- I think keeping mis-exile options available is the most important.

As for town's chances if you left me alive...I do believe I would have been pushing for you or Dylan, although EFHW was always your best possible mis-exile.  So the question is, do you think you convince one townie to vote with you and Dylan for me, or do I convince everyone else to vote one of you two (possibly with your help if you decide to bus)?

I can't say whether your chances for victory go up or down in that scenario.  I think removing me from the options helped consolidate voices on an "easier" option for mafia.  Backing off further from me while I was still alive was always going to be risky for joth; by me not being around, it was easier to shift.

Clearly, it was the right play here anyway.  Good job, well played.

Yeah, killing you feels like it framed me so hard right there, but it's a case where the WIFOM and too obviously scummy to be scum defense could make town pause there. This is why in my last couple town games, I've fought against that argument so much lol.

Also, nobody caught it, but I was so afraid I scumslipped in the mod question hard at the end when I mentioned the game ending instead of the day ending, because a townie is hoping to get it right and keep the game going so it's only the day that ends, but scum wants to "get it wrong" and end the game, and town noticing my default assumption there would have left me high and dry lol. Phew.
