Asynchronous. People make their guesses, other team gives them the result when they see the message, etc.

You can check out one of the previous games (I believe still on the first page) to get an idea how it looks on this platform.

We split into team blue and team red. One player from both teams is the spymaster and gets a randomly generated 5x5 word grid from me via pm where they can see which words belong to team blue and which to team red. In this thread the same grid without the color codes is posted, and the spymasters post their clues (format is one word: a number for how many words the clue refers to). As long as you guess correctly, you can go on, until n+1 guesses has been reached where n=the number the spymaster specified in the clue. We take turns until one team has gotten all their words or either team picks the assassin (a single, instant loss card). The team that goes first has 9 words, the second team 8. It's pretty simple, I think just browsing through the first page in Codenames VI (in the first page) will catch you up.

What’s to (outside general gamesmanship) stop me from listing every clue as:

Clue: 9 to give my teammate maximum guess chances? Even if they’re just randomly guessing past every seemingly obvious matching clue, they either get it right and he’l keep going or get it wrong and pass the play, which they would’ve done after completing the clue anyway.

I mean, your risk flipping an opposing word I guess, but still.

You also risk flipping the Assassin, which loses the game. I think the rules also state that the number you give must correspond to the number of words you're thinking of, so I guess you can be asked to verify which words you were thinking of and justify how they relate to your clue. Also, I believe you can say "unlimited" instead of the number, but I would say that generally it's very helpful to know how many words you're looking for.

Fair - I didn’t really think it was tactically sound unless facing a 1-word & lose deficit, but was more curious.
