Hi all!
The main site (
www.lynchpool.com) is up and open for anyone.
Thanks so much for everyone who has helped out so far. I'm keen to get some activity going and I'd really appreciate anyone who can join in.
For anyone who wants to help, here is a list of ways to do so, in approximate order of priority:
1. Play. This is by far the highest priority. The goal would be to always have a game going (so new players can check it out before joining in), and to always have a beginner-friendly game not too far from starting (so new players don't have long to wait before starting their first game).
2. Invite people. Everyone's welcome, and the more players we can get, the more games will happen
3. Use the forum. Feedback is always appreciated, and it'd be great to have some friendly discussion outside of games.
4. Create flavour. I'm not sure how much flavourless games appeal to new players, so it'd be great if we could get some entertaining flavour written for our rated setups. Created flavour hasn't received much testing yet, and the info page on it probably needs a lot of work, so if this interests you, check it out and let me know when you get stuck.
5. Create and run setups. Play around with the options that already exist, and let me know when you want to do something you can't yet do. There's a wide world of Mafia setups out there, and having some demand for particular roles etc would help give me direction on what to implement. I think the ability to run test games with dummy players makes this a great way to try out your ideas before testing them on real players.
6. Beta test. I plan to deactivate most accounts on the Beta site, and to use it to test newly implemented interfaces, mechanics etc. Games that take place there will have short deadlines and probably some dummy players to fill them up. It'd be great to have a few people to check things out before they become available on the main site. Let me know if you're interested in being one of those people.
7. Be an admin. I already have 3 volunteers for this (shraeye, faust and Eddie), which is certainly more than enough for the time being. Admin responsibilities will be things like answering questions, approving flavour, promoting high-quality custom games (so they show up at the top of the list), and whatever else we come up with. As I said, 3 is plenty, but if you're super keen I'm not against having more.
8. Contribute financially. If you feel like the site is worth it and/or you'd like to support it in this way, every dollar is hugely appreciated, and it'd be great one day to be able to cover the costs of keeping it running. You can either upgrade your account or donate directly to the connected Paypal account.
Again, thanks so much to everyone who has or will join in in any way. Again, the main thing at the moment is to get some games happening so that new players have something to do.
As always, let me know if you have any questions, suggestions etc.
