Town directing vig kills, which seems a bit better than vig deciding for themselves and not accidentally shooting other PRs

Aren't you usually absolutely belligerently dead against town trying to direct PRs in any way?
I am typically set against Players of unknown alignment give suggestions. Even then vigs seem slightly different. But mostly it is the not shooting other PRs on accident that is beneficial. In terms of mass claiming, that is.

Haha.. yeah, okay, I do still disagree with you, then. I was worried you were changing your tune too much! I think all I agreed with you on was that given the premise that we know who all the town PRs are then it's helpful to be able to direct the vig... but that premise is exceedingly unlikely because I just don't see a massclaim not being messed with by scum, and then I don't see town surviving very long if there are two competing scum factions eager to snipe out our PRs.

I'm not even surprised... this is the same player who repeats the not-pro-town meta of claiming SK every game.

Okie dokie so nothing going on quite yet.

Joseph brought up the claim right?
I gotta be honest I don't see how anyone could see the upside. I want to believe that it was just a thing to get things going, but like... given the set up and the withholding of information when skum kills, it goes:
1) we claim
2) PRs are isolated
3) skum kills PRs
4) Town never gets verification of the flip (if I understand the set up correctly).

How could a claim be good? - just seems skummy to bring up.

Although the no flips is going to be interesting, as we won't know whether there's 2 or 3 factions left, whether we're at LYLO/MYLO etc.....
We get flips at lynches though. So let's just correctly lynch?

Oh. Reading is cool. That makes a huge difference.

Sure, I agree with you about not being in favour of mass-claiming. But I also tend to think that PRs "owe" town their power, and ought to be at least a bit accountable and willing to take town advice, at least in as far as they can discern who town is. IIRC you've disagreed with me strongly on that in the past, so when you mentioned steering town PRs now, I was a bit surprised.

Also I suggest a full mass roleclaim right now. If 5 people don't object in the next 5 hours, then I will claim my role
This is dumb, don't do it.  While pushing for mass-claim has been scum in a couple recent games, this particular methodology seems more geared towards pushing us out of RVS into real-reads voting, so I'm tentatively reading joseph as town.

This is why scum keeps doing this
I'm not sure what "this" is?  I don't think Robz was town-read for pushing a mass-claim, though I could be misremembering.  I don't think scum is generally in favor of pushing us out of RVS?  Since providing real-sounding fake analysis is definitely harder than providing no reasoning at all and bantering around.

And although it does invite theory discussion, I think the particular way that he stated it pushes us more into taking sides and providing reads.  His statement is provocative, and I still think scum tends away from provocative statements in general.  Yes, that means that I'm potentially letting scum players get away with them (like in Gilmore Girls), but I just think scum doesn't like to make themselves the center of attention unnecessarily.

I think scum has gotten away with pushing scummy things early and getting town read for it because it’s “pushing us out of rvs” but I think just posting ridiculous things like massclaiming in this setup should not be given towncred

I am not certain anyone is giving towncred for this reason, we are just actually discussing whether the idea has merit. It doesn't. I feel like you are trying to stop something that isn't really happening. Paranoia?

I'll just have to take your word for it.  I don't think that particular thing is true in any game I've been a part of.  Robz was not town-read in Smash Bros, Silver was town-read (by me at least) in Gilmore Girls (but it wasn't pushing anything scummy), and Space Alert was too different to apply.

Then again, in smash bros, O got town-read for doing scummy things as well.  So maybe the point is more generically that scum seems to be taking advantage of "too scummy to be scum"? this allows them to just be scummy without getting in trouble for it.  Hmm...I could be persuading myself to recalibrate here.  I feel like my sample may be too small, but you and Galz at least are suggesting it to be true (in the specific pushing for mass-claim case).  Would anyone say this has been generally true?

Gah.. I really don't like being silent for more than 24 hours when I'm supposed to be active in a game, even when a thread is averaging more than one post every two hours or so! However, work mess is happening, and I had to escape to a rehearsal, and now I'm back at work and not going to be home till after 1am.. so I'm making an apologetic post and then running away for sleep. Sorry :-(
