it's deadline in 2 days actually.
What are your top candidates for the lynch? Where's E?

I would like to lynch Calamitas or EFHW. I would not lynch you, Jake, or E. Everyone else, I guess is on the table. What about you?

It's EFHW/Jake for me. Wouldn't lynch Space-A, Faust, you (and E of course).

Hmm. I REALLY don't think Jake is scum. I mean I'm probably overcommitted to this position at this point, because who ultimately knows anything on Day 1. But EFHW seems like a much better bet to me.

"Not lynch" in the sense of no-lynch over lynching them or in the sense of rather not lynching them?

At the same time, SA, the pledge requires you to assume good-faith on the part of your fellow players.

I assume good faith and ignorance on Jake's part. He wasn't even here when I first joined the forum. I died N1 in my first game, and nobody had even gendered me at all by that point... which was fine by me :-P

There is precedent for the mod stepping in -- Haddock did so in BSG when it was getting out of hand and the offenders didn't seem to be taking it seriously. In a more direct approach, a couple of mods have stepped in to edit incorrect posts made by other players, and for the record, I appreciate that :-) I think giving people a clear, firm example is the best way to make it less awkward for everyone. I just don't always have the energy to get into a debate on my right to use singular they when I'm also trying to hunt scums or something... and I don't like having to pick one over the other.

Frequent offenders (not Jake) have made excuses like "well, pretty much everyone here is a he", so I'm not making up wild accusations there. Attitudes like that are not the way to build an inclusive community, and goodness knows inclusivity is something the world needs more of today :-)

PPE a bunch. Good, back to the game now!

Rather not lynch, I should have been more clear. Well, I won't lynch E even if it means No Lynch but other than that, yeah.

Hey, everybody, please do a better job of referring to people the way they have asked to be referred to.

At the same time, SA, the pledge requires you to assume good-faith on the part of your fellow players. I don't think we should punish people for making mistakes--it's hard to change deeply ingrained habits, even when you want to.

And Jake, you should probably tone in a down a bit, dude--you signed the pledge too.

All good? Let's move on.
Thanks Robz.

What's scummy about EFHW?

Her (cloaked in mystery) case on you wasn't very good, in my opinion. And the way she hid it was strange. Odd behavior. Is it necessarily scummy, I'm not sure, but it's something. Also, a sneaking suspicion that there is a vet scum, and she is the most likely candidate. I have a town read on you.

But I think I'm leaning scummier on EFHW than on faust. I don't think her case is very good.

Anybody interest in an EFHW wagon? Gosh, I hate lynching vets on Day 1 though.
See what I mean?  I said my case wasn't very good, and then I'm pressed to share it anyway, and now I'm getting a wagon because my case wasn't very good!

There's another possibility for a vet scum that you haven't mentioned, you know. Not that I expect you to vote yourself.

This vet scum theory is straight up bullshit and there isn't a single reason to believe that any vet has a higher chance of being scum than other people just because they are a vet.

I think it has merit because I'm having an unusually difficult time developing scumreads.

Cna't really tell; he did not play a lot of games. I remember him being kinda silent in one game I watched/modded (?). Activity did pick up later on, but not by a whole lot.

That's just because you were gone a long time and don't know meta. If anything, it should be easier for you to get reads on players you already know.

I agree with faust that efhw is behaving townie with her case against faust.

I also think faust is also townie for defending efhw, even though she is the one building a case against him

I am ok with the general group think feeling that I am getting saying Calamitas is scum

This vet scum theory is straight up bullshit and there isn't a single reason to believe that any vet has a higher chance of being scum than other people just because they are a vet.

Surely the theory is just that vets are more practised at hiding the fact they're scum than newbies who may get over-excited or over-nervous or something?

We all have the same prior probability of being scum, and (weak, limited) evidence observed so far in the game suggests shows that newbies don't seem to be slipping up yet. Since newbies have a higher rate of slip-ups than vets*, and since no slip-ups have been detects, the posterior probability of a given being scum is slightly elevated. The logic is sound at least.

*Personally, I don't believe the premise that newbies must all be more likely to slip than vets... NM8 is a lovely illustration :-)
