Round 1 Matchups & Results
« on: October 01, 2016, 02:54:30 pm »
+7

Hi everyone,

Here you can find your opponent in round 1. Please send a PM to that person immediately to schedule your match. If your opponent doesn't respond to your messages after a few days, please contact one of the mods. The deadline for round 1 is October 9th, round 2 will begin the day after.

After you've finished playing, please post your results here. Remember: Six games, each one is starting player three times. If someone wins 3,5 matches, you can stop playing. Make sure to read the rules carefully before playing your first match.

Please use this thread only to post results and questions directly related to a specific result. Use the rules thread for rules questions, or game reports to discuss matches.

To sign up, you had to be a forum member. You can contact other forum members through the PM function.

To do so, go to that member's profile and click the "Send PM" link, or from the top bar, click "My Messages", then "Messages > New Message" from the inbox.

jsh also made a Discord channel for this tournament, which you can use for real-time coordinating.

Use the member search function to find your opponent's profile. Be sure to check the "Search by Goko username" option.

I've added the forum names for those where they differ from the MF names to the bracket and the pairings, so everybody should be able to contact their opponents now ;)

Aleimon Thimble - SirDagen: 4.5 - 1.5

I know we could stop playing after reaching 3.5, but we both wanted to play that sixth game, so yeah. :P

By the way, even though SirDagen only won one game, it was the most amazing win ever. He beat me with an engine on a Cultist board without trashing WHILE IGNORING CULTIST. I'm still amazed by it. Will definitely post a log soon.

In case you wonder, challonge doesn't allow floating point numbers so it's 45-15 there  :-[

Might be better to multiply them by ten. 35-15 feels clearer than 7-3.

So this is complicated.

First game ended on opponent disconnect. I think I was ahead enough to be the clear winner, he does not and wants a replay, so that game is indeterminate. I'll PM the log shortly. I started that game. Then we played the other 5 games, which reached 3-2 his favor. For Game 7, I won.

Quote
5.1 If a game ends due to an unintentional disconnect from the game, discuss the gamestate with your opponent
5.11 If the game was still close, simply replay the game.
5.12 If the lead was almost insurmountable for one player, award a win to the player who was ahead.
5.2 If you have trouble coming to an agreement, put the match "on hold" and message the admins with the situation that occured. Finish the rest of your five remaining matches and if nobody exceeded 3,5 points, await the moderators' decision.

Chris and I had a thrilling, close contest, and this write-up is accurate. One of the nicest people I've ever encountered.  All I wanted to add is my pov that, while I admit Chris was in a better position at the time of the unfortunate disconnect in game 1, I do not think the position was "almost insurmountable" (rule 5.12). (Chris purchased the first Province, and on my next turn, my client bugged, while I had a hand that was likely to score my first Province.)  I suppose it's up to the admins to make that assessment. If it is possible, I would be happy to finish that game from that point on.

Second, neither of us consulted rule 5.2 during the match to notice that we were supposed to put the match on hold before playing game 7. Chris won game 7.

Let us know how to proceed.

Kind regards,
David

We will look this over. I am willing to facilitate playing this game out over Skype if you would both like to take that route (and the other mods approve the idea).

I'm definitely willing to replay the game from the point of disconnection with Skype and proxy physical cards,, but I do think my lead is almost insurmountable. Mods feel free to PM me if you'd like me to explain how I feel the game would have played out.

In case a PM doesn't work, you might try clicking the envelope to send an email (if they've listed theirs). My opponent had not realized the tournament had started!
