"comes off" can have the connotation "give the impression as a result or byproduct". 

E.g., a guy trying really hard to pick up a girl could come off as desperate.

I voted Gkrieg after rereading, for similar reasons that I voted Iguana.  The Day 1 posts of both have a little bit of forced nonchalantness, something in particular scum tries to emulates.

Gkrieg is present Day 1 without ever doing a whole lot.  A decent amount of criticizing/pseudodefending cases and not really making his own.  Also the thing on Mail-Mi (which was his first active thing on D1)... putting at L-1, saying it wasn't the expected reaction.  It's not like that can't be townie, but it felt a little forced, as if he was planning to not find Mail-Mi lynchworthy. (A hammer would have looked bad, but doing something regarding the wagon that does not result in a mislynch looks good.)  Rest of day is similar; he comes back at the end to go for Mail-Mi, though prefers Faust.

Iguana has an overly 'I'm playing this game really cool and loose, guys' attitude.  Lots of gratuitous punctuation.  Pretty involved with the game, is pretty confident with his case on J Reggie.. reminds me of classical high-content scum, like how I played in my earlier scum games (maybe X-Men).  I'm not so sure Iguana would play that way scum, though.

In both cases, I was curious to see if anything would result from voting, though they were both pretty much ignored.  Saying more stuff may have been better, there.

I don't think I ever do that much D1.  The only times that I have, I got attacked by faust and/or silverspawn.  Honestly the wagons were either mail-mi or J Reggie at the end of the day, and I thought mail-mi was more likely to be scum.  I don't usually make any cases D1.  I still think that putting mail-mi at L-1 was the most productive thing I did D1.

I mean, I'm inexperienced and probably quite misleadable still, and I'll certainly keep re-evaluating my beliefs, but right now he looks townie to me.

On the other hand, I still feel like you're more scummy. Your attitude seems to be to challenge people rather than to work with them, and your overconfidence makes me worry that you know too much.

This game seems like typical D1 shenanigans, except more so than usual. I've managed to distance myself from that (I think) but that comes at the cost of contributing little to no content.

When it comes to reads, I will do some sort of reads list but at this point I have null reads and towny reads. I don't read scum on anyone

This is actually an interesting point.  If you're having trouble getting scumreads, there's a good chance scum is among the more experienced players.

Early on seems just the usual game-opening stuff.

Claims SK at #156, but I know he claims that sort of thing every game as his meta so that's null.

I liked this, and felt like it was townie, but I guess by rights it should be a null.

Okay, so a lot happened today (typical).
Mail-mi seems kind of towny to me, but I'm not convinced LaLight is scum either.
New players do silly things (experienced players do too), but at least they didn't actually hammer the wagon.

He had town on Mail-mi at this point, so that's townie I guess.

His 4-person lynch pool at #425 contains both Silver and faust. And contains a longer defence of Mail-mi (who was still alive and kicking at that point) than any other text on anyone. I guess scum!Joseph could have thought that the wagon would go, and wanted town points for it. It seems relatively unlikely, though.

Oh, but then he finally joined the Mail-mi wagon at #596 after all.

Around the 70* posts, he seems interestingly helpful to Schadd while I'm busy casting suspicion for the scumslip/townslip thing. The two of them seem to be cooperating in a way that lots of other people aren't. Maybe it's nothing, but I did manage to pick up on the scum pairing in BSG from a similar sort of interaction, so I'm noting it here.

he was correct about faust having a pr, and i'm wondering why that is—i theorized earlier that the scums figured he and silverspawn were masons, and that to the rest of us they just seemed scummy. so how was rr able to differentiate that?


the thing that i've learned over the course of the game is that putting someone next to lynch doesn't actually really do that much. so i kinda just wanna lynch roadrunner, or at least prompt him to comment on the game state.
