It actually occurs to me that I don't think ghostofmars can pay for Card 27 with that bid.

Or even with his earlier bid.

Yes, I don't have enough cubes to buy the card, but I'm allowed to bid on it to increase the price. However, if I won the bid, I would need to pay my bid without getting the card just discarding it. I get a compensation of 6 points in cubes for discarding the card.
