rēs cornūcōpiae consultēmus: remake

2015's best one that costs $4. i voted it there as well as most people.

this is probably a better card than chapel ignoring cost; for its cost chapel is probably better but maybe even not. some people would be like, no way! and some people would agree i'm sure. i would argue that chapel is less of a skill card than remake, even: both of them are equally unsuitable for bm generally so that's out the window but when you play chapel you usually just trash 4 and then that's that, whereas with your remakes and your masquerades you actually end up making choices; that's how i justify that those two can be better cards than chapel when played optimally.

-isn't it just dandy to trash your opening silver around turn 7?
-do you consider it to be on them with cornucopia? (hint: yes)
-people would interject into this regardless of whether i asked this but what do you think of it with respect to chapel?

I think Chapel is better. There are many boards where the 3's are pretty mediocre, and you'd much rather trash fast than gain some bonus Silvers. Remake is also not as flexible when you draw it with only 1 trashable card. Other than the Rats and Fortress combos, I haven't found Remake to keep utility into the mid and late game, it's by far the most inflexible of the entire remodel family.

Chapel is usually way better than Remake if Poor House is in the kingdom.

Chapel trumps Remake in the short term, as you have less cards to cycle. However, Remake beats Chapel by a large margin in the long run, simply because it can remodel things into other things.

Silvers are bad. Chapel can't ever give you them. Which card is better?

Your SCSN glasses blind you. Silver is not bad; it is only worse than many other cards.

The 4 Silvers you get for opening Silver/Remake, then remaking three estates into Silver, is a lot more than some engines want.

You don't trash those Estates instantly, dude. Sometimes it's the better play to lose the Coppers.

But if you wanna get rid of all 4 silvers too, then Remake is a very slow trasher compared to Chapel.

The tricky question about Remake is whether you want a second copy or not. And with some key fives available it is a yes pretty often i'd say.

... so then Remake them again into something else? Seriously, Silver isn't bad if you can later get rid of them for benefit.

His SCSN glasses are making him a much better player though.

Let's say I draw Remake-Copperx2-Estatex2 on turn 3/4.

Do I trash the Coppers, hoping to get thin faster, or do I trash the Estates, hoping to improve my deck faster? What if there are no good $3s? What if there are OK-ish $3s? What if there are amazing $3s?

That depends. Sometimes you need the economy, but if you don't, it's worth it to get thin sooner.

I always go for the Estates.

You're going to trash them all anyway - what's the use of being thinner with dead cards and no economy exactly? It's not like if there are no good 3's you're gonna keep the Estates (ignore Inheritance for a minute)

Because that way you cycle faster. Having two fewer cards in your deck is almost like taking an extra turn every 2 turns in the early game.

You can always remake the Estates later for that economy. Of course it depends on the Kingdom, but generally I like to wait on Estates, or at least just remake one of them.
