The Genocide of Spies

Hello, everyone.

A lot of things have ruined games of Dominion on making fun for me. There was a guy who opened Great Hall then resigned, as he thought he would win because he has more points when he resigned. There was a game where a guy Embargo'd Scout THREE times because I got excited in the chat. There was a guy who started swearing at me when he realized a child beat him by 65 points at Dominion.

But, a game I just played not fifteen minutes ago takes the cake. My opponent bought out all the Spies in a base card game within 15 turns. I played Witch BM with a Remodel. His turns took flippin' FOREVER! He even had two Princes on Spies. Not only did he play around seven spies per turn, he also needed to take about 20 seconds to decide whether or not I should discard my Copper. I tried to ask him in the chat why he bought the Spies instead of Silvers, but he did not reply. Maybe he is reading this now, who knows? Now, I always thought of Spy as a good card (because of its synergy with Scout), but I am officially vetoing Spy forever. This is even worse than a Possession game I played and felt inclined to write about a little while back. Maybe Donald X will read my story and enlighten us. Donald, why did you create Spy? And why is it called 'Spy' instead of 'Satan?'

Spy is fine. Why do people complain about Spy. They can't all be the fastest card ever.

(Scrying Pool is way worse than Spy at making games take forever FWIW.)

An opponent complained about my speed a few days ago when I made a Spy-King's Court engine. With Fortune Teller as payload. I can see why he got upset.

Yes, I got six Provinces (but I milled one to end the game quicker).

Donald, why did you create Spy?
At the time I was pretty pleased with it. It was a totally new kind of attack. I immediately moved it into the main set, where it was a nifty combo with Thief and whatever the Knight-like card was that didn't survive and eventually became Saboteur.

In retrospect it is weak and also slow. It is one of the few cards I specifically don't include in sets of 10 when I am asked to make such things for official tournaments.

I think Dostoevsky described that kind of behaviour a lot :)

Just go ahead now.

Is there a reserve card named "Me Baby" now?
