How do you Develop a $4 card into two $5's?

Dedicated forum readers will already know the answer, which was sort of posted here (though not in puzzle form): http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=1345.msg21875#msg21875

But if you haven't seen it yet, this is a good brain-teaser!

It is much harder if you say that the two $5's have to be of the same type (treasure, victory, action).

Play your favorite Village, then Black Market, play a Quarry, then play Develop, trashing your Talisman, gaining an Action card which normally costs $5 (now $3), and gaining a Treasure or Victory card costing $5.

Now to check the link to see if my answer is the same...well not quite.
Should have known it'd be Mandarin shenanigans  :)

I would have made it a little harder by not giving away Develop!

You play a single card, allowing you to gain 2 $5 cards. How?

Well, the wording needs more work to disallow Remake... but something like that...

Golem works quite well as an answer to that one: I play a Golem and hit two Universities. :D

Technically, you've played 3 cards there, the Golem 2 Universities.

No, I've played one. The Golem has played two.

No, I've played one. The Golem has played two.
Reveal cards from your deck until you reveal 2 Action cards other than Golem Cards.
Discard the other cards, then play the Action cards in either order.

You played the cards, Golem just found them for you and forced you to play them.

If I played them, why don't they cost me action points?

I don't have the rulebook on me, but I believe it costs an Action to play an Action card only if you're playing from the Action card from your hand.

This is an important distinction for conspirator. The card reads "if you've played 3 or more actions." If I play a Golem and find 2 Conspirators, I play the first one and it doesn't give +1 card/action, but the second one does. This can only happen if playing cards found by the Golem counts as ME playing the actions, not the Golem, based on the wording on the cards.

The rulebook on Throne Room clarifies the matter some.

Quote
Throne Room – You pick another Action card in your hand, play
it, and play it again. The second use of the Action card doesn't
use up any extra Actions you have.

I would assume this applies to Golem as well since it is somewhat Throne Room like in it's ability.

My last post was my 200th which changed my card name from Golem to Conspirator. Coincidence? ...yeah probably.

I'm such a huge fan of Conspirator; I kind of hope I never make the 20 or so more posts that's required for me to change.

You only had 20 posts left and you used one of them to say this? You should be more judicious.

The same reason Black Market doesn't use up your buy.
