what about a mafia variant where instead of lynching, the town votes on one person to make permanently bulletproof each day? and mafia's goal is to get a majority thru murders still?
So the goal is to "lynch" town.
In a 10 v 3 standard 13 setup, with a kill guaranteed each night, mafia has to kill for 7 town in 7 nights to get to 3v3. Even with 3 scum lynches, that's 4 town lynches meaning only 6 could be killed at night at all. Scum loses 4 to 3 every single game at best.
So you need more mafia, less town, or powers to mess with the BP.
so like 7v3 instead maybe. sure. also i'm wondering about fliplessness on lynches. i guess you confirm townies when they die.
No one you lynch will ever die, so you will never know if you were right until the game ends with the 4th NK. The problem is that at some point, town might know who the scum are, but if they've already been BPed, there's nothing to be done about it.
I mean, thematically, having to outlast the bad guys by assuring the safety of a majority of town seems like something that could work (as opposed to removing the bad). I don't know if voting the "best" instead of the "worst" is the way to do it.
Think of it another way -- during the day, vote for a player to go to a different thread. Once both threads are majority town (or something), town wins. Or if there are four scum, once two scum exactly in each thread, scum win. Night powers could also move players back and forth, block moves, etc.
That's another way to do something like this.
