It's in the trash, and you're gaining it. Therefore you're gaining it from the trash. Am I missing something?

We don't normally include Thief with the other from-trash-gainers because it only works on treasures that have just been trashed from opponents' decks, and thus is functionally very different. But I don't see why "gaining from the trash" requires that you can gain treasures trashed at any time. In fact, nothing can gain "any treasure trashed throughout the game" since Rogue and Graverobber only work on cards costing 3-6.
