sounds interesting. Hopefully I won't attempt to many illegal moves. also I didn't realize how much of a trust kinda game this is. The fact that you talk about moves and then they all happen at the same time so someone could just backstab you is scary.

That's why it's so much fun!

ok who wants to make a 7 way alliance where no one attacks me? This way you don't have to worry about the annoyances of getting first and can just have fun playing the game!

Sounds like a good deal to me

Awesome! :D

Advantage of Britain: Most of my influence is in the water. Therefore, on that last map I look much weaker than I really am :)

Hydrad look out, KingZong is coming for you! No, not because of the knife, but because you're Turkey and he's Austria and he said he will be making a beeline for Turkish territory!

How do I get jDip to open the variant map? I've tried downloading the files and compressing them into a zip file in the variants folder but jDip doesn't seem to recognize it.

oh. i'm off in a corner all by myself. I'm not sure if I'm glad or not. I guess this depends on how KingZong plays

Did you call your file *Variant.zip or *Variants.zip, where * is any file name e.g. 1900? Note that jDip is case sensitive there.

If that doesn't work you could try to use my file.

Keep in mind that you can sail around Africa in this variant. So you can move fleets Egy -> Mid, Hej -> Mid or Mid -> Egy, Mid -> Hej.

In the original game, Turkey has good chances to win or at least draw, if it survives the opening, because the map protects his East and South. Similar statements hold for England and France if only one of them survives.

Works fine with your file, for some reason. Don't know what I was doing wrong. Thanks though!

huh I'm having trouble with that varient also. is it file > Import Judge file > select the 1900Varient.zip (that I downloaded from ghost)?

Or is there another way I should be opening it.

You copy the downloaded file into your variants folder of jDip. Then when you create a new game, one of the options should be the 1900 map.

Is this thread ever used for talking anymore? or is it pretty much just for updates now.

It'll be mostly updates, but if you want to say something to everyone you can still post here. But since most things are secret, people often opt to use QT threads as well as PM's to the mod to get things done.

As it came up:

Please do not quote full messages from other QT, paraphrasing is ok. You may use short excerpts (a sentence or two). The idea is that the quote should be not so long that it is recognizable as a honest quote. The receiver should be in doubt whether you fabricated the quote or not.

Just a reminder of the deadline tomorrow. 23 hours left to convince the other players of your plans.
