So we've had more than one occasion where forumers have, with varying levels of good humor, bickered about sharing a card art avatar.  Therefore, I think it'd be a good idea to have a list of who's what, so newbies can see if they're concerned about picking a unique avatar.

I was Platinum for a good while, but I've switched to Advisor.

I don't like the idea of this. There aren't that many cards, and there are many members of the forum. Let people use the same one - you can just look at the name to not get people mixed up.

I kinda agree with WW that it shouldn't be a big deal if people end up using the same avatar as another person, but I still think a list like this is a neat idea as a reference for people choosing a new avatar and wanting a unique one rather than just their favorite art or card.

I've not seen any bickering, I saw a polite request followed by some humorous banter following it.

And if anyone does try to 'claim' card art for themselves I'm going to be sorely tempted to use that card art and try to post in the same threads as them, and if there's one person here you don't want to be confused for it's me....(or possibly Walrus, he's scary)

Maybe "claim" wasn't the right word. Just call it "list of Dominion cards used as avatar" or something. If I hadn't grown attached to my current avatar and decided to use a card instead, I would definitely like to use one that nobody else is using, and this would help me do so.

If what people want is a quick place to see who is using what avatar, uhh, well maybe people can make a list for that, but that doesn't require a thread for people to sign up and be on the list. And that list can constantly change; I don't think we can expect people to post in a thread when they change their avatar, and I don't think we can expect someone to keep updating this list if people do that. The only way that list can be useful or accurate is if it's created automatically, like go to this website and it will tell you who's using a Dominion card as their avatar right now.

That would belong in the Meta forum, I guess? It doesn't have anything to do with Dominion though.

The only thing that can possibly come of this is people bickering over who has more Imaginary Internet Rights To Be The Sole Person Who Has A Particular Dominion Card Avatar (IIRTBTSPWHAPDCA). As you can see I've bolded the relevant letters in this acronym, since that's where the threads are that are for arguing about stuff that isn't Dominion. If this is done in RSP then I can easily pretend it doesn't exist, since that's certainly not becoming of this wonderful Dominion community.

I don't think people should be claiming exclusivity rights to card art, there's only 200ish cards (+some Iso art), and far more members than that. This thread means that new members might not be allowed to use art of their favourite card, simply because someone else says they can't. That doesn't seem fair, and isn't going to encourage them to stay around very long, if their first forum action is to be told "Someone already has that avatar, change it".

Not every disagreement has to go in the RSP forum? If anything it should go in the forum feedback, but nobody looks in there.

You wouldn't need this would you? Doesn't it backfil to all your old posts when you update.

That all being said, I still fail to see the need for it at all, its a complete non-entity of an idea for me.

Man I don't see why this is so terrible. I thought the whole thing was in good fun. A newby did indeed request a reference for which avatars are already in use. That's really what this is; not some weird patenting thing. I think the only people taking it seriously are those who are worried that other people will take it seriously.
