I have just find out that we (Czech Republic) are one of the few countries where 24th of December is state holiday = non working day.

Is 24th of December a state holiday (=non working day) at your country?

Not in the US, though some people get it off anyway depending on where they work.

Not in UK.

However, I think it depends on when Christmas is celebrated, I believe many Eastern/Central Europeans celebrate on 24th December, so that make sense?

In Brazil, Dec 24th is not a state holiday... but it's customary to give employees half a day off so they can go home after noon and spend the afternoon preparing to celebrate Christmas eve with the family. Dec 25th is a proper holiday.

I recently moved to the Netherlands, and was surprised to find out that here Dec 24th is a normal working day, but Dec 26th is a holiday ("the second day of Christmas," as it's called).

26th is Boxing Day, traditionally when the servants would get the presents from employers.
