Beggar/Feodom vs. Rabble/Margrave Engine

I just played against an engine based on minstrel/margrave + rabble. He opened minstrel/silver, signaling an engine. I opened double woodcutter, in an attempt to run feodom/silk road. Because the only +Cards were attacks, I started amassing a large number of beggars. Every time he attacks, I gain 2 silvers. I played this way, and it got close, but he got a sabouteur, which I think was a mistake. It hit 2 feodoms, giving me beggar + 3 silvers.

Anyways, just a counter to attack-based engines.

This is especially interesting because of lighthouse. Without lighthouse, I might still go rabble engine, putting 3 green on top each turn. Now I'm not sure what is best. I think I would still go for the engine, but I also might lose. I'd be up for playing this kingdom with somebody if someone wants.

I'm sorry, this was supposed to be fied under Game Reports, nit help. Also, opponent could have easiy won had he contested the feodoms later.

I do like his slog here.

Yet, I would not open double Woodcutter, I think. Even in a slog, getting a Rabble or two would help. The mass beggars approach seems charming although I'm not sure whether Lighthouse isn't just better, since you don't want to play Beggars for coppers.

Interesting board...
