Ratcatcher/Rats can be worth it if your opponent gives you a Rats with Ambassador or Masquerade. I can't think of any other reason to do this.

Without rats : curse + 4 cards.
With rats : curse + rats + 3 cards -> 4 cards, you trashed a curse and you gained a new rats.
You have to NEED these rats - who knows ? it can boost vineyards and remove that -1 point at least). So I'd agree with AdamH, but at the end of the day you go ratcatcher/rats to exterminate rats (at least it's nice thematically)

Scrying Pool is another reason.  Maybe Venture, if you want to clear Copper faster.  And more generally, non-cost-based trashers like Hermit may like it for turning Copper into trashable actions.

But just going for Ratcatcher and skipping Rats is better here. The only cases where that matters are if the game is ending and that one point matters (in which case Ratcatcher at all is probably wrong? That's not exactly clear) or you care about Rats being an Action card for some reason.

But if you care about Rats being an Action card, then why are you trashing it with Ratcatcher?

I've tried Rats with Scrying Pool and Vineyard. It's just not good. Just thinning is better, so you don't actually want the Rats.

And none of this takes into account the fact that there's a significant opportunity cost associated with buying Rats and then drawing Rats once you decide you're done playing them and they aren't already out of your deck. Ratcatcher is slow trashing and those Rats multiply super-fast.

Also, why isn't there a plugin that allows me to type Rats, or even Rats, and produce a link to the wiki and a card image on rollover?

Working on it. This post is the first test; if this works, then then your markup in the quoted text should be automatically changed to a card link. Here we go!

*Edit* Woot! Ok, now to make it so that if you have the extension, links like that will include a hover with the image popup.

Also, why don't I have a million dollars in my bank account?

I mean, as long as there's a wish granting genie hanging out...

Have no fear, liopoil is here! The best way to deal with a rats infestation is to build a watchtower in your backyard equipped with a laser to instantly shoot any rats that come out from hiding.

Under 10 minutes, not bad.

Alternative strategy: get a cat.

Shouldn't you go for the best of both worlds? Gain the cat and then topdeck it with Watchtower?

I dunno. I switched the links to Imgflip, because the website is faster, and there are more images too. But the Wine Merchant image is super low res, so I didn't link it.

He's supposed to be a bad advisor!

Also, I still think JoaT should be Jack of All the Things.  And I just realized that that post was before your time.  So here:

Let's retry an UOP meme (with Intrigue and Seaside, so very old cards) :

(quoting images = evil !)
I was wrong with my Monument meme : Abandoned mine fits too (+ vanilla victories and treasures...) . Well, assume I meant Kingdom cards.

If you weren't just counting Kingdom cards, all the basic cards would count as well.
