I'm reading this book (because I have to) on the environment for my college English class. This one 'story' is the stupidest thing I've ever read in my entire life. Basically, this guy is throwing out food he never even uses and donates it all to the food bank, which is fine and dandy. I mean, I never buy food I won't use, but okay. But then he goes on about how embarrassed he would be if people knew what sort of food used to be in his fridge, describing things like cake mix and Nutella. He gets sad when he finds out his can of fish is from the same area where people hunt dolphins, and then he freaks out about how blood could be in his can. Then he goes on a rage about how we must eat only organic natural things and not processed food, but even that's not good enough for him, because he threw out a bottle of organic pumpkin because it wasn't local enough for him. He then compares cowboys drinking alcohol to the fall of Rome and then says America is next to go, because we eat and drink bad food. I mean, the guy has some valid points throughout the story, but it's so convoluted and dumb that I can't take it seriously.
