So, is anybody else worried about smarter-than-human artificial intelligence becoming a threat to humanity? Because I'm terrified of it and the people working on developing it don't seem to care.
The hype is FAR out of proportion with actual technology that exists. So my advice is, don't worry about it. There are much more realistic near-term existential threats, like climate change.

See, the whole climate change hype is just fearmongering to make us ignore the impending dangers of AI.

Maybe the climate thing is coming from the AIs themselves!

Guys, the climate is already ruined.  It was all covered in that 1999 documentary by the Wachowskis.

There are probably more likely scenarios than an indifferent AI tiling the universe with computronium.  But even severe climate change is very unlikely to lead to human extinction.  I don't think that AI is an imminent danger, but I'm glad that there are people thinking hard about the possibilities.

I worry about ethically immature people destroying the world; people doing things because they can, not because it's right.

I worry about smart coders writing AI unchecked. Or a biologist not being careful accidentally releasing a genetically enhanced disease that is in the lab "only for research" and causing an unstoppable pandemic.

I wouldn't be surprised if the apocalypse comes because of some smart person doing "what they think is right", either; not even an accident. Restraints on doing things never go over well, especially with smart people who don't believe safety precautions or rules apply to them.

...all those things concern you more than nuclear weapons? Like the huge stockpile of them that have basically disappeared in the former Soviet countries? Or those that may or may not be developped by suicidal states?

At least an AI will encounter an out-of-bounds exception at some point.

I for one worry about both nuclear weapons and AI's, and climatic change above all else.

No, but if a rogue nuke or three gets detonated, it's not the apocalypse, even if it is a very bad thing.

AI isn't bad at all, until you get to the last 20 minutes or so that are horribly tacked-on.

Well, not to imply that you don't normally have clever comments.  It's just been standing out lately.

I don't think that climate change will lead directly to human extinction, but I do think that if left unchecked it will lead to resource scarcity, unrest, war, etc. which could result in human extinction (see "nukes" above)

It's being brilliant by taking a silly argument and making it worse.

What colors is the dress on the left? What colors is the dress on the right?

They're both the same colors. I verified this in Photoshop.

I wasn't sure if that was the case, because the heads were different colors.

I verified it in MS Paint.  I don't know if I just one-upped you or if that's worse...

I made this. I think the viola staccato is too loud, but other than that, how's it sound?

You're right, the viola staccato is way too loud. And the ending is pretty abrupt in a way that I'm not a huge fan of. Other than that, it sounds pretty good. What did you use for the brass?
