Well, I'm still not even buying Exxon gas, so it's not going to work out very well for them with regards to me.

I... don't understand what you're saying here.

I think SCS is talking about the Exxon oil spill, which was...around 25 years ago. Meaning, SCS is going to avoid BP to stay consistent.

The new logo happened before Deepwater Horizon though, so I think it's a little off target.

BP spent over $7 million on their logo change back in 2000

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/849475.stm

They basically came up with a green and yellow flower to link them to green and clean technologies, wonder how that worked out for them...
If you compare to their previous logo, maybe it was worth it:
http://www.inc.com/ss/evolution-corporate-logos?slide=1
Their new logo is pretty nice, and the previous logo was boring/ugly.

I'm not fussed as I just fill my car with whatever petrol is closest to hand when I run out and is the cheapest

if it was cheaper and was an ok substitute I'd even fill it with Nestle Baby milk'

Titandrake is correct.  I don't buy Exxon gas because of Valdez, so I'm not buying BP either, post-Gulf spill.  Logo, or the timing thereof, has nothing to do with that decision.

The other part of that post, about the Nationwide logo, wasn't linked to thought about oil companies, but was linked to the concept of logos in general, after the post about the Pepsi stuff and the mention of BP's logo.

I always found the logo and slogan for Sherwin-Williams kind of disturbing.

"Cover the Earth" ….with paint…apparently.

Over the past few weeks I've been rewatching the Harry Potter movies, so here is the definitive ranking :

The Prisoner of Azkaban (3)
The Goblet of Fire (4)
The Deathly Hallows, Part 1 (7)
The Half-Blood Prince (6)
The Deathly Hallows, Part 2 (8 )
The Order of the Phoenix (5)
The Philosopher's Stone (1)
The Chamber of Secrets (2)

Yes, I'm pretty sure this ranking is objectively correct. Although you could add a few hundred empty lines between The Deathly Hallows, Part 2 and The Order of the Phoenix.

I agree with this like 99%, but I'd personally put Goblet of Fire on top. The first two movies are somewhat meh to me. I watched all the movies before I read the books (I know, probably sacrilege), and I still feel like there's a lot of stuff in the last book (and movie) I don't "get".

If the books were sacred, but they're not.

Not to me and you they aren't  ;).

I meant it in the context of the "the book is always better than the movie; read the book first" thing.

You know, before I rewatched them, I would have put Order of the Phoenix last, below even the first two, but... I don't know, it wasn't that awful. It's not good, but it's better than I remembered it.

@Ichi : Goblet of Fire really nails the Cedric Digorry thing which is probably the most important thing in the whole series, but it does have pacing problems. I remember there being talk of splitting it in two at the time, and you can feel it at the start of the movie where the editing feels really rushed.

As far as reading the book first... well if you are going to read the book, yeah it's better to read it first because you get to imagine the characters and setting your own way... but that's your loss, I'm not sure why people would get upset about that.

I actually kind of like how Goblet of Fire feels really slow and then gets a little bit super dark super fast in the last 15 minutes or so.

I only watched like half the movies. Was generally extremely unimpressed. I recall that PoA was just ruined for me by the stupid looking werewolf.
