Right, linearpolynomial, but I didn't go into specifics since it's linear wrt to edges, not nodes and a few other things depend on your implementation (which in turn probably depends on how complete you think your graph is).

My point was not to correct you, but to show that even extremely efficient things like min-path have to use heuristics in many applications. BTW, linear (or any other class) is always wrt size of the input. In a graph, the size of the input is reasonably approximated by number of nodes + number of edges (though, in a closer look, it is not, but we are getting way too technical for a random stuff thread).

He's almost entirely black with a little white on his chest.

"Scout" seems like the perfect name, then. Yes, I would have said this regardless of what he looked like.

Well, for a black cat, there are plenty of standbys.

Midnight
Shadow
Onyx
Jet
Nazgul

Okay, maybe that last one isn't too standard.

Sir Vander
Sir Destry

... Scout really is a good choice, too.

Vagrant?

Would you say that the kernel of white is drowned by the black fur?

edit: If it's black with a single white spot it sounds like he's got a "Yang" color scheme. Might be weird to have a Yang without a Yin though.

You need to post a pic of the cat for accurate naming! And plus it's probably cute

Is that lame? English does the same thing with game names from other languages. Example: Sudoku.

It's horrible in Japanese.  They do it so much to English words, then think that their mispronunciation is the correct way to say it.  I was talking to a Japanese person and he was really surprised when I told him everybody thinks of "anime" as a Japanese word (when it's actually their version of "animation").

I'm really surprised too. Isn't it obvious that it's not?

You are oversimplifying how the language works.  For many things, there was no "original" Japanese word.

"pasokon" is a great example.  It's "paso" from "pasonaru" and "kon" from "konpyuutaa," or "personal computer (PC)."  There's no old Japanese word for computer (in the modern sense), so they take the English word and make it their own.

It's not like English doesn't do this.  The next time you eat lasagna or pizza, think about where those words come from.

So a laptop is a "nouto" because it comes from "notebook."  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gairaigo and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_gairaigo_and_wasei-eigo_terms for more.

It is not horrible, it's the evolution of a language.
