I had not taken into account that this joke wouldn't work so well outside of America. That still doesn't explain why three of my Facebook American friends thought I needed a math tutor.

I think a bigger part of it is just the body language that goes along with it in the show. When you actually hear Titus say it, the joke is obvious.

It's true. The way he delivers the punchline is hilarious.

And I normally am not a fan of the overused trope of flamboyant black gay man. I've had my fill of Mannequin, thank you very much. But the fact that Titus makes fun of that trope makes it amusing.

I actually liked Rhudy…as a background character. As soon as he became a sidekick, the movie became less enjoyable. Still a good movie, though.

I don't get it.

I can explain.

Libbary is a math term that relates to a system of numerical notation that has base 2 instead of 10.

It's a math joke.
...no it isn't? A google search showed up nothing relevant for 'libbary'. It might be referencing something else in the show, since Kuildeous said it was so meta.

The joke was that it sounds like binary.

I disagree.

Well you shouldn't actually feel bad, but I think "liberry" → "binary" is a stretch.

'February' is pronounced 'Febuary' by virtually everyone.

EDIT: I should point out that this is relevant to the discussion on page 212. I got to the end of the page and didn't realize there was a page 213 so I thought I was posting directly after the last post on 212. Thank you for your patience.

EDIT 2: after reading page 213, I've decided it's still relevant-ish

Any suggestions on how to shuffle a ~1500 card deck well when the cards are all made of flimsy computer paper?

I pronounce the R in February. But I also get made fun of/occasionally admired for speaking so properly.

Is "Wednesday" 3 syllables for anyone else? (This one might still sound like 2 syllables when I say it aloud, but I definitely make an effort to get it right).

I also pronounce the r in February.  Wednesday is definitely just "Wensday" for me though.

Do people here say COMponent or comPOnent?  I always heard "comPOnent" until high school physics, where my teacher always said "COMponent", so I thought maybe that was supposed to be correct when used in a math/physics context or something, but then that pronunciation gradually overtook the normal one for me in all contexts, and now comPOnent sounds funny.  I feel like I usually hear math-y people say "COMponent" though and normal people say "comPOnent".

I also pronounce the R in February, but it's affected and not natural to my dialect.

I say comPOnent most of the time, but when something is broken apart, it's reduced to its COMponent parts.

'February' is pronounced 'Febuary' by virtually everyone.

In what region?  Most people I know pronounce the 'r' as written, as is good and proper.

For me, Wednesday is pronounced "wensssday".  The triple s is supposed to represent that there's a bit of a pause in there, which approximates the third syllable.

I've never heard it pronounced COMponent ever.  Well, maybe "COMponent parts" like in Kirian's example, but I'm not sure now. ???

Ever since I heard someone give the full three-syllable pronunciation of Wednesday, I've tried to emulate that. The "dnes" bit feels a bit like you're swallowing.

I pronounce Library and February with the Rs and Wednesday like Wensday. Both COMponent and comPOnent feel right, but I think I use the latter every time.

Any suggestions on how to shuffle a ~1500 card deck well when the cards are all made of flimsy computer paper?

I don't know what you're doing, but I'm almost certain there's a better method you could be using that doesn't involve shuffling a 1,500 card deck.

If you really don't have any alternatives, consider splitting the cards into a large number of smaller decks you can shuffle, then for each of those shuffle them, then take a few cards from each deck to make new piles, shuffle those, repeat a few times and finally put them back together. It won't be perfectly shuffled, but it should work reasonably well.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.
