maybe being familiar with other disney movies makes you unrealistic expectations on the new one. i haven't seen any disney movies before, but i'll explain why I thought frozen was great. The first third was pretty much worldbuilding of the the most cliché possible setup you can have, but instead of continuing in the same style, the movie then showed that it was aware of all the tropes it has used and was making fun of them in a very subtle way, with the "you're marrying someone you just met" and also the entire character of olaf. and in the showdown, instead of using the love on first sight, it completely skips any romance. it's basically a fairly smart story build into a cliché setup. I'd even say that it parodies overused characters, because the actual dialoges in the middle part were pretty sharp.
and in the end they do have a romance scene, which kind of weakened the message, but i understand why they put it in.
i thought all this was obvious, but judging from the movie sin counter video...
falling in love in one evening montage cliché
