My wife is interested, so I should be available. I don't think we have a preference for which weekend.

Taking the subway from O'Hare is also an option.

Depending on the location, this might also be the preferred option. I'll have a handy guide for this sort of thing when all the details are final.

If you're intending or strongly interested in coming and have not already PMed me, please do so ASAP. We have a location finalized (announcement tonight) so now I'm just finalizing the date.

Announcing the meetup location - Cat & Mouse Game Store! I could not be more excited that they've agreed to host us*. Here's what we get:

  • a game store, with access to all their demo copies of Dominion & the expansions in addition to whatever we bring
  • a location right off the Blue Line, which means anyone flying in from O'Hare simply gets on the train at the airport, rides a few stops, and walks 0.3 miles to the meetup
  • pretty much the only place in Chicago with plentiful free on-street parking
  • plenty of nearby bars to adjourn to after the store closes, to game or socialize, depending on our mood and if people want to stick around

Also, the date will be a Sunday, exact date still TBD. This was clearly best based on everyone's availability.

*Cat & Mouse is my employer. Seemed an obvious fit, really!

I've updated the opening post with the current information.

Looks like the store is open from 11 AM to 5 PM on Sundays. Does this mean that we'll have to leave by 5:00, or do we have special dispensation for the event?

Is a Sunday only event enough to entice people from far away to drive/fly to Chicago?

It's made me think twice, I'll admit.

Same here.  Will still try to go, though.  Maybe sightsee a bit on Saturday.

Yeah, same here. If nothing else, we could try to meet up somewhere else on Saturday. Somebody's hotel or something.

People want more than a one-day meetup? I mean, there's a Saturday board game group on the Northside we could also go to. Or whatever else people want to do, I'm just trying to organize what is the most popular - do people want a two-day event?

If it's a two day event, I'll show for both, let's put it that way.  If not, I'm sure I can find something to do.

I think it will make people much more likely to travel. Traveling 6+ hours for a 6 hour event doesn't make any sense, traveling for a weekend would.

Alright. Do people want more gaming or more Chicago for Saturday? Anything specific? We can groupthink this.

I'd vote more gaming -- I am close enough to Chicago that I will definitely be there often enough for touristy stuff and I will explore the city. If other people want to do touristy stuff, I'd be willing to do that as well, though. If there's enough interest I'd be happy to do two days of (mostly) boardgaming.

Gaming!  How will we ever finish the impromptu Dominion: Enterprise tournament otherwise?
