Yes, fill up the small sections quick. Either go for mines early or not at all.
Castles are one of the best, but rather limited in availability so get one when you can

Make sure you get as many free actions from buying stuff as you can, only way to fill up the board by the end of the game


That covers the basics, I dont think you will want to go into too much detail on it as it will spoil a bit of the fun if you get told to much rather than working it out as you go along.

Its a brilliant game, one of the best if you like thinking about stuff

It depends, unless I get a tech that gives me bonuses for trading (More money, workers or VP's) then I go for it, otherwise i tend to stay away from it unless I need that one extra silverling to buy something form the Black Market.
