Infinite mining villages?

I got an account here just to mention this (and I'm sorry if it's already been mentioned somewhere else), but let's say your opponent (to your left) has been building an engine using mining villages (or maybe something else, this is what I thought of) and some other +card cards.  You posses his hand, and use his engine to get all of his cards.  You still have a few mining villages extra, you play one, "trash" it, and it goes into his discard while you get +2$.  You play another one, picking up that one you "trashed," "trashing" this one and getting +2$ again.  With a few +buys, you could get several provinces.  Or if there's a card with +buy that you trash (I'm not familiar with all the cards in the game yet, so I don't know) you could get everything.

So I guess my questions would be:

1. Is this feasible?  Is it worth it to hope he'll go for the engine with the mining villages?

2. Is there a +buy card that would work with this?  One that would give you a card as well, as it would stop you with getting more mining villages if it didn't.

The "trashed" cards don't go to the discard until the end of the turn, so you can't play one more than once in a single turn.

Trashing a card when possessed does not cause the card to go into the discard. It is simply set aside. So you cannot redraw it that turn. It is only discarded at the end of the turn. So it's not infinite.

That said, cards which give trash for benefit, Mining Village included, tend to be very strong when you are being possessed because you can trash without fear of permanently losing the card. So if there is a possession, consider if those Mining Villages will help you or your opponent more.

- Play GR, gain MV on top of deck.
- Play MV, draw MV, trash MV for $2.
- Play GR, gain MV on top of deck.

- Play MV, draw MV, trash MV for $2.

Don't bother playing Scout.  Buy a Province.

Umm... unless you're going to trigger a reshuffle, you almost certainly want to play scout there.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

Ah, that was the original intent of the topic, so that does make sense.

But those MVs in the trash can't be the ones you just "trashed", because those just get set aside. I don't think there's a way to get more than $20 from MVs in a Possession turn. On a non-Possession turn there can be some KC'd Graverobber Shenanigans to get a lot more, but I suppose that's a subject for the Puzzle subforum...
