How do you win with a King's Court/Inn/Menagerie setup?

I opened Silver/Horse Traders, while my opponent opened Menagerie/Horse Traders.  I think I had the better opening, and I got to King's Court first, but I ended up losing 7 Provinces to 1.  What went wrong?

6 Silvers is rather excessive.  I suppose they could help snag the first king's court, but then they will swiftly get in the way.

On turn you 5 you buy an inn but I think your two actions are too weak to warrant an inn, particularly with horse traders and inn discarding the same sort of cards. Buy a jester (or stables) there. On turn 8 you want a second king's court.
