Mafia Game Threads / Re: Mafia X - The Death of Donald X. Day 3
« on: September 06, 2012, 01:14:06 pm »
Edit to the above: as Frisk pointed out, any town PR could out him as a liar right now. A cop could counterclaim, the jailkeeper could debunk his N1 Geolib claim, and a doctor knows there can't be 3 PR's.

I'd therefore be willing to vote to lynch Eevee or Voltaire based on my analysis above. Of course I realize anyone else doesn't have the exact same train of thought since they don't know I'm town.

If anyone still doubts I'm town, though, reread my claim at the end of D1. It's not proof obviously, but maybe you'll agree that it helps my case.

I'm inclined to believe Frisk here. A Jailkeeper could easily out him if he was lying, and there's no way he could know that there isn't one in this game. There's a 50-50 chance that there is one, so it'd be a huge risk to lie about this. Someone please correct me if my logic is mistaken here.

That would then mean that me, Frisk, and Jorbles are all town, and thus two of ashersky, Eevee, and Voltaire are scum. Those seem like good odds to me, so I'm not sure I agree with a no lynch. Of course, from Frisk's perspective, I'm not confirmed town, so to him the odds are 50-50 of hitting scum.

Now, Eevee and Voltaire were both ready to lynch ashersky yesterday (and in fact thought we had until the recount), so it makes little sense for either of them to be his scumpartner.

My deduction leads then to:

a. Voltaire and Eevee are both scum.

b. One of Volt and Eevee are scum, and were willing to bus scumpartner ashersky.

b. Frisk is making a massively crazy scum play here, in which case the above analysis is invalid.

I investigated mega lurker jorbles - who i didn't see post anything anywhere near deadline (although I was phone posting - and haven't reread yet).

I received a town response on him, so the jailkeeper must have picked someone else to protect or suspect.

i'm also being punished for my post lock posting - I think I did it right.

+1 to eevee - nobody vote - no lynch is almost certainly the correct play here - more time for investigation, more chances for jailkeeping success.

Longer post to follow - as I am on baby duty and he is screaming

Why are you assuming there even is a Jailkeeper in this game? Only the Jailkeeper himself, the Mafia rolecop, or his partner would be able to know that.

And be wary of voting. 2 on a wagon is enough for mafia to quickhammer.

One of two cases here.

a. Frisk's claim yesterday was a hail Mary at the deadline with a hammer looming, praying there was no real cop to counterclaim him. He'll have to come in today with a fake investigation.

b. Mafia WIFOMingly wants us to choose (a) and lynch Frisk. In this case Frisk has a real investigation for us.

I await to hear what he has to say.

2681
Dsell, you are aware that the inconsistencies in your restriction arent the only reason for me to vote you.

Regarding my ability: I can't choose someone to target.

I'm a little confused about your power then. You put in a night action and a random effect happens to a random person? What does the power have to do with you? Are you leaving something out?

2682
So we do have a shared universe?

I mean Mad Hatter and whoever ashersky is still not explicitly claiming. Probably should have guessed that based on their similar post restrictions.

The philosophers can debate whether DVX and jotheonah count as the same universe.

2683
I wish I'd been online when the daykill happened; I'd have checked which players were online then!

Bad road to go down. The kill may or may not have been time-delayed for metagame reasons.

That timing was too perfect though. Do you mean someone could have put in a prior order like "Daykill eHalc just after he reveals knowledge of a liar, but just before revealing who it was?"

2684
Sorry, I'm an idiot. I was talking to O, not Insomniac.

2685
So this was done by another player and not a modkill right?

It then seems like having this done in the middle of the nameclaim will be informative, since we can narrow down to people who already claimed.

Insomniac, you think we should be looking at the people who didn't nameclaim after this?

2686
Dropping in briefly, heading out soon.

ashersky is doing really good with the rhymes by the way. Nice rhythm and everything.

Also, a liar has been caught. Should we continue roleclaims for everyone else? Should I give the full decryption that reveals my own rolename as well, or should I just out the liar?

Are you able to catch more than one liar potentially, or is this a one-shot thing? If you can catch 'em all we should keep going.

2687
Cayvie, is your portrayal of Ned Flanders from the Simpsons as a whole, or do you come from / reflect a particular episode?

Hurricane Neddy?

Dial D for Diddly.

I had to Wikipedia that one, since I haven't seen a new episode in like 8 years. I was amused to see it described Ned as a "serial killing vigilante."

Also, did anyone else forget Morgrim was in this game? Vote: Morgrim7 for not posting for over 2 irl days.

On a side note, you will WISH you were in this game. It will be awesome.

{Scumbag Vizzini}

Fix'd

Yeah Westley really should be the mod, shouldn't he?

2690
BTW Watno are you a hydra?

2691
LAE: Lynch All Europeans

(I kid, I kid).

2692
I am Jigglypuff.

I don't know what your power is, but it SHOULD be that you can trigger night whenever you want (by singing). And then you draw mustaches on us.

Haha. Lemme try the second part at least: Everyone add a mustache to your avatar.

Robz, I myself am trying to figure out what the Dragon of the West might be capable of in this game.

2693
I am Jigglypuff.

2694
I'm actually not voting for you at all at the moment. I thought I was mildly defending you.

2695
Also I thought eHalc was from Star Wars and we are pretty sure we don't have multiple people from one Universe?

eHalc claimed to be some sort of robot I think. And based on what people have said, it appears that no one shares a universe. But I feel the obvious issue is that someone with a role name of Darth Vader might have lied about their universe from the beginning.

I want to pint out that I didn't accuse you and others of lurking, but of totally ignoring the discussion about a possible genre-/whatever-claim

Good point. My mistake.

2696
Long post ahead:

I dunno if I'm quite ready to hop on this Watno wagon. Some people seem a little eager to accept ashersky's story as if it directly implicates Watno, when there are still a lot of details missing. I went through and found a brief history of Watno and ashersky:

Here is Watno not wanting to participate in the universe claim, then conceding genre:

I know the mod might be lying, but since he said giving away fluff information in our pms might hurt, i don't see the point in doing that, so I wont give you the answer to my universe and everything, but maybe someone can explain this to me?

Oh, I just saw theorel had already explained his reasoning, I missed that somehow.
So I'll say this much: Genre: Science-Fiction

Watno then calls out a few people for lurking (he calls out me in the post directly following), and votes ashersky based on the quoted post (he actually votes me based on a counting error and then votes ashersky again but I'm condensing):

I looked through the posts again and noticed that the following people havent neither claimed their genre/universe
nor given a reason why they dont, even though they have been posting:
Captain_Frisk, Morgrim7, O, ashersky

Especially, I noticed this:
Is 10 votes a lynch?

And how do you define genre? Isn't everyone saying fantasy a bit uninformative, since that could mean anything?

And is it geeky to think a buffyverse bastard role mafia game would be awesome?
with no mention of the genre/universeclaim later. This seems to be kinda dodgy to me. vote: ashersky

I'd like to know from all of you why youre ignoring this issue in your posts totally.

Watno then ended up on the pps wagon. Note that he was among the very few who never gave a universe claim on D1.

Meanwhile, ashersky also got away with never giving us a universe claim on D1. This is all he ever said:

Do I really need to genreclaim for anyone to guess? Does literature count as a genre?

ashersky then put an odd vote on cayvie close to the deadline, which I mentioned I thought was suspicious:

Read through all the ftl posts and while nothing stuck out I can see why some might be uneasy about him. I get a completely neutral read and that troubles me for some reason.

Am I crazy for agreeing?

The deadline is creeping up, isn't it? Anyone else think Cayvie's successfully ducked attention? May I add a Vote: Cayvie even if it doesn't get us closer to a lynch? Will you all be disappointed I didn't jump on a wagon?

I don't think people will be disappointed, but it's a matter of getting 9 people to agree with you in less than 5 hours. But the standard rules apply even under pressure: if you strongly feel that someone is town, don't vote for them.

I think the reason you guys are getting such a neutral read is because his posts are all fluff, there's no real content, just the illusion of content. Trust me, all scum wants/needs to do day one is to just skate through and survive.

Man this reeeeeaaaally makes me want to vote ashersky, since he's been flying under the radar too, and then comes in 5 hours before the deadline to cast a meaningless vote on someone with no chance of being lynched to appear involved. (btw, where's Archetype and Frisk in all this?) I'm not so much disappointed as suspicious, so I'll save a FoS: ashersky for D2.

Jump to today and we have this:

Is anyone Darth Vader? Does that make sense to anyone?

and

I am not from Star Wars and I am not your father (i.e. Darth Vader)

Then asher votes Watno, gives us cryptic stuff about the Imperial March, others pile on, yada yada yada.

Sorry for the super long post. I'm not sure exactly what to make of all this but I wanted to go back and get this all in one place, and see what others think. I find both of them a bit suspicious overall, especially since neither has given a universe claim.

I'm also really curious about what Watno has to say about these recent accusations.

2697
Does Archetype have to use questions now?

2698
Or just begin every post with "Did you guys know that...."

2699
FoS: Watno, ashersky, Cuzz

I haven't seen them in a game yet (maybe they were/are in some I am not following) but they seem very lurky as well.

Sorry for being lurky. I just didn't feel like I had much to add to the "should we nameclaim?" discussion (I could have gone either way honestly). The discussion today seems like it will be more fruitful, which is good since we have a lynch deadline in a few days.

Aaaaand 6 new replies. My post putting a FoS on Eevee and Insomniac needs to be rethought now.....
