General Discussion / A reference for f.ds lexicon and inside jokes
« on: November 19, 2014, 09:30:10 pm »
First, I feel I should explain this thread for everybody.  It sometimes occurs that in a thread, someone will make reference to something once said in another thread, or even on an early page in the same thread, generally to elicit laughter and/or groans.  These references could be called "inside jokes" or possibly just "f.ds lexicon" at this point, but for a newcomer, or a recently returned, they could feel strange, out of place, or confusing.  In order to ensure these refenences remain as funny as possible, I feel strongly that a thread explaining any and all posts, comments, phrases, words, etc. that could be considered within the f.ds lexicon needs to exist, and it now does.

Please add to this reference thread at your leisure.

Mafia Game Threads / Dune Mafia Game Thread - Evil Allies Win
« on: September 02, 2014, 06:35:33 pm »
I am quite sure historians will focus on Paul's story that night,
and the days that followed.  I cannot blame them, given his impact
on the future.  But he was not the only one with an adventure on Dune.

--excerpt from
Memories of Arrakis, by the Lost Duke Ashersky Atreides

The surprise attack on Arrakeen came swiftly, and no one was spared.  The focus was on the great hall of the Atreides, but as is often the case with violence, there was no discrimination in choosing targets.  The sounds and smells were the most vivid; smoke, smoke everywhere, and screams.

In the house of the Atreides, where the fighting was thickest, a bloody battle raged near the thopter bay.  Clearly lost, a few bolted for the last remaining thopter, attempting an escape into the night.  It took heavy fire on the way out into the dark desert sky.

Billowing black smoke and tilted heavily to starboard, the thopter flew west.  It wouldn't make it far, though, and soon crashed into the ground near the base of the Shield Wall.

Nine people survived.  As they ran for the cover of the rocks, they each grabbed a pack from the smoking heap of the crash.  As the sounds of battle continued like a lullaby, they each found a place to lay low and wait for the light of day...

Hearthstone / Crafting, Legendaries, and the Relative Value of Dust
« on: August 12, 2014, 11:33:53 pm »
So, I wanted to get a conversation going on the usage of dust.  I've creeping up on the 1600 magic number, but I wonder if it makes more sense to craft 16 rares that are very useful, or a mix of rares and epics.

For me, my Token Druid deck is what I want to have as my "main" deck, so I'd look at crafting Cenarius or Leeroy at 1600.  But I don't even have a Keeper of the Grove, you know?

What are your thoughts on crafting and the best use of a pile of dust?

Hearthstone / Best HS Moments 2014
« on: July 04, 2014, 03:18:54 am »
Figured we could have one of these for when we want to share a moment...

Like just now, facing a strong control hunter...he drops a King Krush, I have a full strength Sea Giant.  He goes to the face, plus Glad Bow, putting me at 5 life.  He also has a trap set.  He has 18 life.

I Faceless the King Krush, play Savage Roar, hero power, then set off his explosive trap.  I'm at 4 life, but lethal with the charging KK.  He resigned.

Ironic, given all my complaining about Krush.

Hearthstone / Isohearth I: Setup Discussion
« on: June 17, 2014, 07:21:43 pm »
I'm thinking for the first iteration, we keep it simple and learn from what doesn't work.

Option 1:  Soulbound + Commons Only

Option 2:

Quote
How's this?  All soulbound + commons and a dust budget of 600?

So possible addition of:

--1 Epic
--1 Epic, 2 Rares
--1-6 Rares

So it's still a basic deck tournament, but with the ability to add a few cards to augment your strategy.  Plus, anyone who's opened 6 packs has 6 rares at least.

Option 3:  Unlimited Constructed.

Subject:  The monsters of Monsters Inc. have no allegorical meaning.

As part of a forum mafia game, we are having a debate!

Axxle will argue for the subject.
DD will argue against the subject.

Each player will make one, and only one, post for their argument.  Afterward, I will open a poll for anyone to vote.

Thanks!
