The group had rested in Kakariko village in preparation for the grueling climb up Mount Death. When they gathered at the foot of the mountain trail, though, someone was conspicuously missing. “Where is the Hero?” they said to one another.
Growing more and more concerned, they returned to the tavern where they had slept the night. Nerves began to run high, and they were practically stampeding by the time they crowded into Link's room.
Their worst fears were confirmed. The Hero of Time's body lay lifeless in his bed, killed in the night by Ganondorf's dark magic.
Silence fell over the group, and every heart was filled with terror. If the hero couldn't win against Ganon's power, what chance did they stand?
But then, one member of the group stepped forward. Sheik grabbed the Master Sword from where Link had laid it to rest, and held it aloft.
“Do not despair!” she cried. “Though our Hero is fallen, the fight is not yet lost! As long as our hearts beat and our lungs draw breath, we can fight! If you believe in the courage that Link stood for, then follow me onward to victory!”
Though the cheer that rose was ragged, still it rose, and the group set out into the dawn to continue the Quest.
