I'll start with a Project from my fan Industrial Revolution expansion:

What happens when you also have capitalism? Do all actions that give also give an additional +1 card +1 action?

Woodcutter's back and now he costs $0? The way I'm reading this card, you can spend a Buy and $0 during your Buy phase to gain a Woodsman, which means it basically costs $0. Was that what you intended? I don't think that can exist alongside Woodcutter, even though Woodcutter is removed.

I didn't think it was a major issue to have Woodsman effectively cost $0, because often you will have additional $ to spend on something better.  However, I agree that it's awkward if you happen to have Woodcutter in the same game, and it's probably better to limit the special gaining to non-Supply cards so that it isn't too easy to empty out the Woodsman pile.

I really like this set of cards. Am I correct to think there are Kingdoms that would make getting your hands on the Magic Axe impossible? If there are no Villages and no cantrip +Buys that could be a scenario. I don't know if that is an issue to you or not.

I would also be concerned about making Woodsman cost essentially $0 as mentioned before. As a suggestion, you could leave everything on Woodsman the same but move the part where you can pend 1 Buy to gain a Woodsman above the line so it requires a Woodsman in play to get that benefit.

Another option would be to just increase the cost of each card by 1 Buy, but that would still not resolve the potential issue mention in above where some of the non-supply cards cannot be obtained.

You're right that it would be impossible in some Kingdoms to gain Magic Axe.  I had initially though about whether Enchanted Forest should be a Village or give +Buys, but I felt like it would be too easy to stack Woodsmen with it (which were previously quite easy to gain) and also to gain additional Enchanted Forests or Magic Axes.

Imo, Just cut out the special gaining of Woodsman, and leave the rest as is.

Thanks - I've modified the set so that you can't gain Woodsmen by spending Buys.  Instead I've added Secluded Village, to also address the issue that Xen3k highlighted.

Just a small pedantic thing, but there should be a comma after "this turn". See Improve

Thanks - the comma doesn't seem necessary, but I've updated the wording anyway to match Improve.

Revised set: (I'll update the OP as well)

Secluded village should say to reveal the hand, so there isn't trust issues

I'm entering an event with a two-sided state

Scry • $3 • Event
You may place a card from your discard pile on the bottom of your deck, then turn your deck face up. If you don't have "Warned" or "Twice Warned", take "Warned".

Quote
Warned • State
After shuffling or counting your deck, turn it face up. At the start of your turn, you may discard the top card of your deck. If you do, turn this over to Twice Warned.

Quote
Twice Warned • State
After shuffling or counting your deck, turn it face up. At the start of clean up, you may discard the top card of your deck. If you do, return this (and turn your deck face down).

"play with your deck face up" seems like fertile promo ground; unfortunately it also seems like it'd be a project most of the time. Pairing it with discard plucking and some weak sifting seems appropriate. This - one event card, six state cards - is still fewer cards than a typical kingdom pile, so i think it'd even be feasible to do with irl printing.

Points of pride: putting the "what about shuffling"/"what if i need to count my deck" complaints implicitly to rest.
So Scry by itself lets you see your deck for the rest of its current shuffle. Each side of Warned turns the next new deck over, or if you don't have it anymore the deck goes face down as normal. Do I have this right? Because turning it over after counting the deck seems unnecessary, it's all face up so you can look through all of it as you count. I guess it's all public knowledge as well, technically. What's stopping your opponents leafing through your deck? (A sensible rulebook instruction saying they can't.)
And the decision to discard the top of deck with Twice Warned is between moving a junk card on and losing the deck knowledge advantage so having to pay another $3 later to regain it. I suppose it's worth it sometimes, but most likely it's a $3 better saved.
after you buy Scry / have Warned or Twice Warned, you turn your deck face down for shuffling or counting; at all other times, it is face up. I suppose other players could look through it, but I think that falls under the same sort of table ettiquette as not looking at other players' hands.
As for price, consider it more that you can discard two pieces of green/junk until you buy it again.
So Scry allows you to look at your whole deck, not just the top card? That's an interesting concept, but seems very AP-prone to me...

Certainly not looking at opponents' hands is a hard rule, not just etiquette? So there should also be a ruling whether opponents can look through your face-up deck with Scry or not.

After all, all face-up cards in the game are generally public knowledge, and opponents are already allowed to count your deck, since deck size is public knowledge.
Maybe have it be like Native Village, where you can look at the card (in this case the top card of your deck) at any time

Speaking of which, what happened to the first printing of 2nd edition box art? The wiki doesn't even mention that the cover existed.

I think that this is probably too weak. Engines (most of them anyway) don't want the Silver, and Terminal Draw Big Money probably doesn't need/want the Horses. Even in Terminal Draw Big Money, you often have 2 Silvers in play, in which case this is a more expensive Expedition/Experiment. If you make it cheaper, it probably is too similar to these 2 others card-shaped things, so I would buff it somehow.
This analysis is off. Yes, in a normal game you won't have more than 2 Silvers in play all that often. But we're not considering a normal game, we're considering a game that has Horse Trade in it. The opportunity cost of adding a Silver becomes significantly lower as each Silver is more or less a cantrip if you buy Horse Trade. You can build your deck with Horse Trade in mind, and I think it can be pretty strong then.
Yes, but if you are trying to build an engine around Horse Trade and Silvers, it just isn't going to be reliable. And if you aren't building an engine around it, I really doubt that you are going to take one of these for 3 Horses over a Gold or a Province in Big Money
The Event does neither cost $8 or $6 nor are Province and Gold the benchmark. Experiment and Expedition on the other hand are. That makes the analysis fairly simple, the Event is good if you have 3 or more Silvers in play. Doesn't seem horribly underpowered.
but if you have 3 silvers in play, you'd have the option to buy a gold, meaning that you could compare it to a gold

Merged Path and Madame into one card (Path) and added other terminal money, a Harvest variant (better than it I hope).

And 3 cards to have more non attack players interactions: A Wishing Well with a kind of reverse Gladiator bet, a Throne Command with a bit of the kindness of a Duchess and a Black Market gainer with Advisor condition.

Gambler should end "you may reveal a copy of it from your hand for + 1 card" so there isn't trust issues

Translation:
Band of robbers

+1 Buy, +2$
Gain a spoils from the spoils pile.

Action

Obviously this is comparable to Band of Misfits. Band of Misfits is a village, while this is a Woodcutter. Cards that cost should generally be more powerful than cards that cost (Alchemist and Laboratory). In most cases, I would prefer to have village over Woodcutter, so I would usually want Band of Misfits over Band of robbers. Which should be the opposite, so maybe this should cost ?
Do you mean Bandit Camp?

All previous versions had the same problem of being more wanted as pseudo-trashers and too strong in that role.

Though I think it maybe would be a bit slow to match Seasons in any version, I think about a "duplicate" version which could be instersting and also interact with Seasons.
I may be mistaken, but the duplicate one doesn't interact with seasons, because it says "from the supply" which the seasons are not.

Yes, you're right. If I write "from its pile" could it have some undiserable interaction with existent non-supply cards?

Anyway, even not interacting with Seasons, which version is better?
If you write "from it's pile" it could duplicate many cards that normally are a trouble to get (Wishes)

Tooth Fairy - Night/Duration, $4 cost
Set aside a card from your hand under this. At the start of your next turn, you may put it into your hand or trash it.  If you trash it, gain a Wish if it costs $5 or more, otherwise gain a Silver.
Do you get the silver if you don't trash it, or only if you trash it and it costs less than 5?

This version, which doesn't count itself, is still too strong at ?
Why not just say "... per Action card in play (excluding this)..."?

Added this gainer, a kind of Horn of Plenty variant.

Why would you ever play it as an Action? I also think that this should cost more than horn of plenty, seeing as you can get more actions in play than differently named cards

The answer for your two questions is the same: It gains a card costing exactly the number of action cards played.
If you play it as an treasure card, it still counts towards action cards in play

Yes, but you can reach Buy phase with 7, 9, 12 or any other number of actions played.
I meant that towards my first question of "Why would anyone play it as an action while they could play it as a treasure"

There's a bit of player interaction if multiple people go for this.
Should the be an attack so you can block people taking Spoils from your mat? Or is it intentionally without that?

Edit: The first time someone takes all the spoils into their hand, won't it lead to a megaturn without other methods to get spoils, as there'd be 15 spoils? Or am I misreading this completely, and it's only spoils from your exile mat?

    • About Princess: Is there really an issue? Victor specifies "you may play...", and princess says "while this card is in this play...", so I understand its effect does in fact apply
But it won't be in play, because it's in the prize pile

Contest #100: Fun with Non-Supply Cards

Create a card-shaped thing that interacts with an existing (i.e., official) non-Supply card. It can be any type of card-shaped thing and can interact in any way whatsoever, big or small, with any existing non-Supply card (or more than one). Please name or show the existing non-Supply card and describe the interaction. Feel free to wander – please do not focus too much on the contest criteria.

As long as there is any interaction whatsoever, very little attention will be paid in the judging to the quality or degree of the of interaction – I prefer flexible creativity to adherence to restrictions. While I believe that personal preference is always a substantial factor in judging these contests, I will try to focus on balance, playability and, most of all, fun. Also, just a hint, but certainly not necessary to win, I tend to enjoy cards that honor an overall theme or story.

Good luck to everyone!  Have a happy and safe 2021!

(I almost went with a 2020-themed contest, but didn’t really want to look at 100 cards featuring Ruins, Rats and Curses.)

Just to clarify, does our card have to interact with a non-Supply card directly (such as gaining Spoils or Horses, etc. or Commanding them a-la spineflu's entry) or can our card just combo with some non-Supply card in some way without necessarily guaranteeing that it's in use (like LittleFish's entry does)?
(Like my entry would do if I remembered correctly)

In games using this, when you end your turn without buying a card, you may trash an action card you have in play to gain a Asylum

Interacts with Madman, as you can save it in exile for when you gain another. Maybe it should be just reveal and not discard, as it could be pretty weak otherwise

This doesn't interact with Madman the way you want it to. Madman is returned to its pile, not trashed.
I must have mixed up the wording on Hermit and Madman. Haven't played a game with Hermit in some time
