Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Where to buy blank cards?

Board game geek seems to have a bulk of blank dominion cards, you can even buy the promos separately. Did they have an exclusive deal with rio grande games? Or something. There the only ones that seem to be selling them, there even pre packaged. For the blank cards to be packaged wouldn’t you need a small factory.

Boardgamegeek.com might still have them 3$ a pack of course you have buy 2 packs at a time. I use to buy them there, however about a year ago was my last try but the website wouldn’t except my card anymore. So who knows if it will work for you or not. If they still have them of course. And if they don’t it will be expensive, but I think seaside and hinterlands have the most blank cards. You can always buy them again keep the blank cards and sell the expansions to a friend for like a 5$ discount.

They still seem to be there. I typed in dominion blank cards on google and found them quite easily.

Hmm good idea make tribal dance a duration. Yeah I’ll make the black panther clarify in your deck. As for the shenanigans I made black panther similar to scheme. With a somewhat weak attack. Weaker than ghost ship anyway. Cause you would have to play 2 and if you had no victory cards in your hand you would be fine anyway. Which works with a vp point card.

I’ve playtested snowy owl, sled dogs, avalanche/snow shoes/firn village, hibernating bear, and frigid village. With amulet, port, miser, wine merchant, distant lands, and giant. We randomly added adventures cards. And both picked wine merchant as the extra pile, via hibernating bear.

The game played normally. It didn’t take too long. Frigid village wasn’t worth buying too many I recommend 2 or 3 max per player. There were times having frigid village give out extra actions didn’t help mostly in the beginning of the game. But it wasn’t awkward either. The only one awkward was sled dogs mostly because snowy owl was in the game. At the end of the game each of us had 2 or 3 Action cards on the tavern mat we weren’t able to add to our decks. Mostly because there were times when frigid village wasn’t in play and we had lots of action cards but enough actions to play them all. However having sled dogs was very useful when journey token was face down then we would gain a port to our hand basically and that was very useful. We both got to do that on a couple of occasions.

Also snowy owl and avalanche was also a very useful strategy especially if we had extra actions. Play port play avalanche trash avalanche gain snow shoes and a gold and then play snowy owl to gain avalanche from the trash. Snow shoes worked only a couple of times to pass on firn village. And so the firn villages were almost evenly distributed, to both of us. I had 5 he had 4. I played avalanche more than he did, but still ended up with the most firn villages. And there was one instance were he thanked me for the firn village because he had 2 attack cards and thanks to getting firn village he was able to play them both.

Hibernating bear wasn’t nearly as effective as enchantress, probably because we only played with 2 players it would probably be stronger with 3 or players. But we also had giant, and Avalanche to play. Giant is usually pretty strong, but it seemed to pale in comparison to avalanche, but in the end avalanche really didn’t do all that much damage (except at end game losing ten points).

Anyways the snowline cards for this game was better than anticipated. It was a fun game. It gave us the same thrill any new expansion played the first few times would do. And we both look forward to playing with some more new snowline cards. (Depending what Cards I decide to make next we will probably not play with snowy owl and sled dogs in the same game).

I haven’t gotten any replies about my 2 night cards. I wanted to make tribal dance interactive without attacking. And thought black panther would be cool worth vps for attack cards.

How’s this version? I made it a little harder to gain an action card from the supply/trash. Especially if your opponent gains an the action you trashed on your last turn, you certainly won’t be trashing the higher costing Actions very often. And since actions won’t nessesarily stay in the trash forever it should keep the victory points at the minimum.

Well I definitely thought my souped up mint was better than the original, and making it cost $6 would at least keep the newbies to prosperity from making a grave first buy. As good as you all say mint is, none of you Guys would make the mistake of buying it in the first rounds. Mint is one of the few cards costing 5$ you would never buy first. But whatever.

Well I think gazbag is one of the few who likes mint. I thought the contest was to replace awful cards. He should of put out a list of the cards he thought was awful. Well I guess the last contest was apples to apples. Deadly is the chosen card for this apples to apples example one player picks world war 2, another picks, bombs, another picks the Tyrannosaurus rex, and another player picks dolphins. The player in charge of this round picks dolphins just cause they love them. In apples to apples you can do that in the game. That’s why the last contest was like apples to apples. It’s kinda hard to come up with a replacement card. If you don’t have a real idea of what to replace. And if I remember correctly one threads gave prosperity as an option. Who new that mint would be one he would like. I’m mostly just disappointed that you like that one, you could of at least mentioned that was one you liked. Then it would of been invalid for your contest and I could of come up with another one.

Sigh! Apples to apples.

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Dominion: Roles
« on: February 13, 2019, 11:21:15 pm »
What if after looking what the kingdom cards, if players pick the same one they have to bid debt tokens for it. Then the other players pick from the ones that are still available. Like in a game with no cards that trash the first 3 players picked the cleric. Player 4 picked the highwayman. The first 3 players now bid debt tokens highest gets the cleric player 1 and 2 bid 5 player 3 bid 4. So player 3 must choose another one, the armorer. Once again player 1 and 2 bid debt tokens player 1 bid 7 player 2 bid 10. Player 2 gets cleric but starts the game off with ten debt tokens. Player one chooses the guard. Player 2 spends the first 3 turns paying off debt. Uses the cleric on his fifth turn to trash the curse he got. Now he starts trashing his coppers and curses but he’s 3 turns behind.

Here’s the question even though he’s potentially got the advantage is being 3 turns behind, still mean he’s going to win this game by a landslide?

                        Cleric

                 +3 Actions
Trash a card from your hand.

$0*Role-Action

                 Highwayman

Each other player reveals the top 2 cards
Of their deck. Trashes a revealed treasure,
If copper is trashed they gain a curse. You
gain the treasures trashed by this.

$0* Role-Action-Attack

              Merchant

            +1 Buy
            + $2

$0*Role-Action

               Farmer

            +2 Actions
Discard any number of cards, then
Draw that many.

$0*Role-Action

                Guard

            +1 Card
            +1 Action
   ———————————————
When another player plays an attack card,
You may first reveal this from your hand,
To be uneffected by it.

$0*Role-Action-Reaction

            Armorer

Choose one: +2 Cards, or
Gain a card costing up to 3$

$0*Role-Action

Because a role is of someone you start as. Maybe you were a farmer before you became a monarch. Ect.
Now If I get more interest in this thread I will definitely post the cards for each of these on here.

Variants and Fan Cards / Dominion: Roles
« on: February 13, 2019, 02:53:35 pm »
I’ve recently had an idea (Roles) what if each player replaced a starting estate or necropolis with a role. The role would be an action. Each role would have their own unique action. You could either choose your role or get one at random. Depending on the game some of them could be very useful. If it was random it would still be fair. And since a role was one card, it wouldn’t give you a ginormous advantage.

Although I didn’t change crossbow and elk mount, I did tweak bolts. Now it’s a card that gets discarded instead of trashed. With a bonus.

And before I make these in the near future, I changed cliff and climbing gear.

Not only did I make cliff a duration and climbing gear a reaction I also made them a split/pile. Because I only had one other split pile. So I made this a split pile for good measure.

Another reaction. It’s good to have a lot of reactions especially when there’s a lot of attack cards in the same expansion. Although this reaction and others I’ve made can react to things other than just attack cards.

I’ve made physical copies of avalanche, snow shoes, firn village and hibernating bear. I’ll start play testing them with friends this weekend. I may make a few more before the weekend.

I was thinking of doing it that way, however I wanted to prevent players from using rhinos to trash Victory cards, and most actions. All my defeat cards are actions too. And once the curses were gone and any possible defeat cards were gone they could still use it as a half mine function.

In a game we’re there are no ways to trash cards besides this, this card will limit the amount of curses each player will end up with. And at least replace all coppers or any treasure really with silvers. I didn’t put an additional benefit because it is a Victory after all.

Of course I might make worth 1 Victory for every 5 cards in the trash. What do you guys think the amount of trashed cards should be, cause with cards like chapel this could give out a lot of Victory points. So I’m looking for a good vp balance.

With that said (I like pirate ship too) even though you can still play with the old cards like thief. Noble brigand is ten times better than thief, you can play it when you buy it, and then it can even give out coppers!

Meant to replace mint in prosperity. I put coffers in the card, since there is  technically no coffers in prosperity I could change it to +1 Buy + $3. So that you could buy a Silver after you lost all your treasure cards.

So did you guys like my version of rebuild better? Or would you prefer it to stay the same with a higher cost like $7 or would you prefer it without the +1 Action? The point is would you like the card any better if it was changed. Or is just a waste of space in the box🙁

To try and make existing cards more enjoyable to play with is the real point of this thread. Obviously golem is fine the way it is. But I would like some ideas to make raze more enjoyable to play with, but still keeping it at $2.

As for the fool? I’m not sure how to make it any better, without removing lost in the woods.

As for scrying pool would replacing the +1 Action with +2 Cards make it better? And we could make it +2 Cards after the other function of the action. What do you guys think?

Before I make any changes is there anything else about rhinos, do you like it? Does it need some improvements? Or how about some of the other cards? I didn’t seem to get replies about animal trap, fishing cat, or proboscis monkey either.

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Playtesting and Printing non-Fan Cards?
« on: February 08, 2019, 09:52:56 pm »
It seems to me either way you do it will be expensive. I did about 150 to 200 cards and it costed me about 50 dollars. so Printing them out will be about the equivalent of buying 2 dominion expansions.

And that was before I play tested them. Only one of my Action cards needs to be reworked on. The others did fine in the play testing.

So if it’s too expensive. Just create a few at a time then next month or so create a few more. Like I’m planning on for snowline like 7 (70ish) at a time.
