Dominion: Nocturne Previews / Re: Previews #5: Exorcist, Pixie, Vampire

As good as Ghost is, trashing a $5 is a big opportunity cost, especially when you would want to keep that $5 around as payload for the Ghost; although an advantage of Exorcist being a night card is that Ghost skips right over it.

Anyway I'll make an early prediction and say the Exorcist will be in the same category as Develop and Counting House; occasionally great but ignorable on most boards.

Trashing a $5 isn’t a big opportunity cost when you have a Necromancer and can still play it from the trash.

Dominion: Nocturne Previews / Re: Bonus Preview #2: Faithful Hound

Took me a while to understand that the Hound returns to your hand at the end of the turn it got discarded, and so is not vulnerable to discard attacks at all.

He can't protect you from Curses but he'll never leave your side.

It's a way to protect Platinum and other expensive treasures from Bandit attacks.

Exorcist has to be some kind of trasher in the vein of Chapel and Bishop. Exorcism itself is the process of completely removing an evil spirit, so maybe it let's you trash all Curses in your deck or something? Or trashes from your discard pile?

Necromancer probably involves the trash. Maybe you can pull Curses and junk out of the trash pile and put them back in your opponents' deck.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: How do YOU pick interesting kingdoms?

I'm also a big fan of picking a random word and then grabbing ten cards that relate to it. Grab a book and ask someone for a page number and then grab a random word from the page and pick cards that relate to that word.

My girlfriend and I had been relying on apps, Reddit Kingdom of the Weeks, and creating sets based around a theme for a while but have recently rediscovered our randomizer cards. Instead of keeping them altogether and doing ten straight-up random, we now have them organized in different piles.

- Attack (All attack cards but also Ill Gotten Gains, Possession, Embargo, etc)
- $2 (Includes Poor House)
- $3
- $4
- $5
- $6+

Now we randomly pick one attack card, one $2, one $3, two $4s, and two $5s. If we truly hate anything or if anything is redundant we can scrap it and choose the next one in that respective pile. We look at the 6 cards on the table and pick which remaining piles we want to draw another random from.

I started playing Dominion with my girlfriend’s 2nd edition base set. I later received first edition as a gift so naturally I hate the removed cards because they’re stupid.

Feast works well with Market Square though.

Let's Discuss ... / Re: Let's Discuss Dark Ages: Procession

Procession/Squire may be my favorite opening. It's risky, but if you're lucky enough to pair them up immediately after the shuffle you can gain 2 silvers, a $3 action card, an attack card, and then use your $2 to buy another Squire.
